Wine #2 Santo Tomas Temp/Cab blend

Just received a mixed six pack from LMA and opened the 2017 from Clos Benoit. This is similar to a GSM blend common in California but not typical as it has 7% counoise and only 2% mouvedre. So more like a French Rhone.

Very, very good, the bottle was gone in 30 minutes between two professionals and a take-and-bake pizza. SWMBO said "how about you open one more?" but alas, only one in the six-pack. That will be remedied.

According to their website, each vintage is different; the 2018 is grenache and syrah only.

Definitely on our must-visit next time down. More info here.

Cheers!

Been using LMA for over a year now and have no complaints, waiting for my Christmas box of assorted nebbiolos to arrive....

Wine #2: Santo Tomas Temp/Cab blend

We always make sure we get one bottle from Santo Tomas each time; the best Tempranillo I've ever had was their 2012 or 2013, I can't remember. The only one on LMA's list was this 2018 50-50 blend of Tempranillo and Cabernet and at $16 a good deal. A few more years in the bottle will not do it any good, buy it and drink it. Not a tannin in sight.

We proved that it goes very well with crockpot pinto beans and baked chicken smothered in store-bought green enchilada sauce. Don't get all snobby, some of the canned-jarred sauces are pretty good.

If you, or someone you know, are transitioning from white-to-red, this is a good gateway drug, so to speak.
