Equipment list with Boat Tip

I recall getting our TIP for our trailerable boat 10 years ago.At that time we also filled out an equipment list that accompanied the TIP application.IE , Rods ,reels , vacuum sealer ,all electronics on the boat ,gaffs and other equipment

We sold that boat and surrendered the TIP. We’re making application for a new TIP for our new boat and are wondering if anyone else has applied for a boat TIP recently and is the equipment list still applicable.

Thanks ,
Mike

eq list

I got a new TIP last July and yes an equipment list is available. When I asked for it, she said it wasn't necessary. I insisted and she begrudgingly inputted the info into computer. My previous TIP's, I filled it out but now they have to do the imputing. That was at the Otay crossing.

Equipment list is to reduce import taxes for replacement of previously imported items.

For example, you fly to USA and return with a replacement part, and avoid taxes on previously imported TIP related boat/RV parts like starter, alternator, radio etc. It's quite helpful in the moment when you need it.

Hmmm. I had a TIP on my boat that I kept in Sonora for 10 years.

Flying in they would charge me taxes on engine parts if they spotted them. It never crossed my mind to tell them I had a TIP. Not sure they would have accepted it and waived the duty. They weren't very knowledgeable.

Going to get a TIP soon for the latest boat and will use this advice.
