Cristina is an Oceanographer!

Many of you know about my Beca Blanca College Scholarship project that I started in the small villages of La Bocana and Punta Abreojos. Students who met stringent requirements like studying English with me 3 times a week after high school classes, doing litter clean ups with me and of course, having a straight A average in ALL high school subjects qualified for financial aid which MANY of you helped me with.

Well, Cristina finished! She just defended her thesis and is now an Oceanogrpher. She wants to get her Master's.

I have to share my glee!!! A project that started over a decade ago is winding down with the last three kids in their last semester.

So proud of her! So grateful to all of YOU!

In this group shot, Cristina is on the far left, wearing a burgandy sweatshirt. Right below her is Fernanda, studying in La Paz, and above her, in yellow, is Lizeth. Both are starting their internships at the beginning of February. Rogelio, the 2nd on from the right, in the back row, is writing his thesis. Also, last semester.

It was flyin g over Baja! How cool is that!

Each student that graduates is going to sponsor another one or two, which pays the movement forward and one day, so many will have been educated.

And I made it clear that trades are also so valid. Sarahi went to beauty school and has proven to be so savvy business wise. Also proud of her!
