Yellowstone
Recently we returned from another trip that included Yellowstone --- caught it as they were pretty much closing up shop. While we made it to see Old
Faithful going off in all its glory and took the obligatory pictures, we found some parts of this geothermal treasure to be even more interesting.
We have been there before, but it is always worth another visit, except in the summer when most the crowds are there.
Just a few pix we both took of a tiny portion of what we enjoyed.
Closing up --- tour vehicles headed out to spend the winter in Gardiner
And just can't end with out a picture of our beloved Tommy Dog. Soon to be 14, he still enjoyed the trip especially when we camped where there were
squirrels.
Thanks for looking.

Nice. Thanks for sharing.
It pains me to say I have yet to see Yellowstone in person.

Nice photos, Diana.
Being an avid fly-fisher we make frequent trips over to YNP and the surrounding areas. That park can be so captivating, from one end to the other. We
never fail to return asking ourselves why we don't go over more often. Only three trips this year.

Thanks for the comments and yes, those who have not been to Yellowstone need to go, but especially during the summer, it is a zoo. While the geyser
areas are magnificent and a must see, there are parts of the park that are less visited.
As the seasonal workers leave, things start to close down toward the first of October, and by October 15, pretty much all services and campgrounds are
closed. They open parts of the park again around December 15 for winter activities.
Allen,
The Madison is one of my son's very favorite fly-fishing areas in all of Montana. He lives in Missoula, but right now he is fishing the Madison
almost every weekend as his latest tree house and outdoor structure project is in Big Sky. (soon to shut down until Spring). He met us in Yellowstone
and fished some inside the Park, but he prefers his favorite spots outside the park where there are a lot fewer fisher people! Fly-fishing is an
addiction, I believe. We have floated the Clark Fork and the Blackfoot with him and if there is a fish around, we have to threaten mutiny to get him
to stop. I swear he has names for many fish in those rivers with whom he has major battles.

That's funny about the threat of mutiny to get your son to stop.
I, too, prefer fishing outside the park during the late summer months, but fortunately I found (actually shown by a long-time park ranger) several
prime spots within the YNP where the average tourist who wants to flail the water ventures. I am careful, though, owing to the frequent presence of
bears and/or bison in those spots.

Great pics, living earth. The North Rim of The Big Ditch is much the same; best to visit the last couple of weeks of October... everything shuts down
end of month, but the Kaibab forest is still heap plenty alive.
.......And all points in between...........

Thanks to you all --- glad you enjoy the pics as we enjoyed the trip.
Buddha, we camped in the Kaibab one October/November to see the big ditch and it was great --- except one does need to watch the weather as we were
almost snowed in! North Rim is great
Igor, thanks --- that B & W is how it felt in some areas.

Just a few more pix from that beautiful geyser part of Yellowstone.
And what is Yellowstone without a picture of Old Faithful --- right on time releasing the spirits from below the ground --- I thought it looked like a
big doggie spirit .
And the bison are everywhere on the west side.
Again, a visit in the summer will have you in major traffic jams!

Thank you for sharing the photos...
We enjoyed Yellowstone a lot, but were there only two days on our honeymoon in 2008, so a lot more to see!
I highly recommend a visit before the place erupts (it is on top of a volcano crater) and all that beauty is changed!
Here are a couple of shots from that trip:

Thanks Oh, they are great old buses. Just beautiful and one could make a great camper!
Thanks Ken --- the ones John took and some of mine were with canon stuff, and some were with the Nex6
Now about that a6000 --- I told John that there was no way you would recommend it to me --- absolutely no way.
