Nothing I said is incorrect or needs to be altered. The rate of construction has seemed to step up... but will it be done in 9 months or 1 year and 9
months...? That would be a PREDICTION, much like the climate and sea level alarmists like to use! So far their predictions are WRONG. How the highway
advances is yet to be seen.
There are still 50 miles of unstarted new highway to build between San Felipe and Puertecitos for the project to be completed. The current roadbed
north of Puertecitos was built in 1982 and paved the first time about 10 yeas after... so thin it was mostly gone by 1999. Repaved in the mid 2000s...
but still not a high speed road like the rest of Mexico 5. |
David, You did not have to bring in the sea level as a distracter did you? and then if that is not enough , you now are saying it has to include
the new road between San Felipe and Puertecitos. Another herring. I think everyone knows what we have been talking about.

Why couldn't David just say...Wow, I was wrong. Glad they threw the resources at it.

Have you ever noticed that many of the threads on nomad evolve to become about DK? I think if you do a search you will find that of all the posts in
the past year, 25% of the posts include reference to dk and That palm tree.
Nomads are sick and tired of hearing about dk's damn palm tree!

I think the goat got it. I posted an article to provide a news worthy item about Mex 5. No mention of DK. only deniers that the road would be
finished...of which there are many. There were many. many excellent comments until Davis interjected with his I, I, I, comments. I guess he
just could not stand that his name was not mentioned. Then she starts with the Palm Trees.. then the hate stuff ( I guess he has a real issue here).
Then the constantly mentioned...What a self-centered _____ (you fill in the blank). No one mentioned him. Take a look. I guess DK or his coop are
the only ones allowed to post a news item here. You got it right Chuckie...

It was fine Bajaguy. look at it from the top...lots of good comments from all perspectives....until DT commented and then the Palm trees had to come
out. DT could have had something constructive to say...but no...just destructive. David could have added his perspective...but nooo palm
trees......Some people just can't stand it unless they are the center of attention. The we have the rest of the coop start to rally. Usual COOP
subjects.

Hahahaha, oh my lord my sides hurt. I STARTED IT by bringing up the 'elephant in the room' that wasn't saying anything....... and then comes the GOP
debates about "wu-ull, I didn't start it, HE did...." ...and, " wull, I wuz just 'counter-punching, so NEENER - NEENER".... OH, what a carnival. And
as usual, it's all about DK, our mis-guided martyr, our bastion of perfection, our own Hero Of The Boards.
OK, I do now HUMBLY apologize for the fact I haven't been able to fish for the last couple of seasons, so yes, I cast out a leeeeeetle bait (I haven't
cut bait and fished for over 5 years; strictly iron) and threw it into the pond. I didn't know suckers were salt-water species. One leeeeetle tiny
teensy weeeeensy bit of bait........ man, what a haul.
HAW HAW. Nomania rules. FISH ON! 
Back to the highway; will be completed very soon. Baja will change because of it. The funniest part is, the Puertecitos stretch will turn to utter
dog-doo-doo in a year or two most; will they patch that? What will the semi's do to the gully-wumps? I remember that stretch being worse than the
rest of the road all the way to Chapala because of the poor asphalt, dips, dunks, holes, detours...... ah, Baja. The fun never ends.
I don't have a BUCKET LIST, but I do have a F***- IT LIST a mile long!

I don't think the thread was ever particularly informative. It's a road being worked on and an end date is near. Anyone can figure that out, even
without aid of a picture of a palm tree.

If you are referring to me you obviously have me confused with someone who is "only here to help" .....I've never claimed or necessarily demonstrated
such a thing...
I have driven that road several times in the past year, they are moving right along but have a lot to do to finish the job. There are more workers and
machinery working there now than there has ever been on this project as far as I can tell. They have a lot of engineering challenges on this last
section as they seem to be carving their way straight through some significant hills. The last time through I saw them preparing for an impressively
large dynamite blast of solid rock, they probably did it at night because the road would have had to be shut down for at least a few hours. The road
may be done this year....or maybe not, this is Mexico after all.
There, I offered something informative to the topic of conversation from a "first hand" observation, not from a link to someone else's story. It's
more of the same stuff told over and over again, same spit, different day.
There is a rock in the bay in front of Rancho Buena Vista. It is visible at low tide but at high tide it is covered by water. There is a flag planted
on the rock so that boats know where it is at high tide. According to Tony they have marked it with a flag for 50 years or so, that's as far back as
he can remember. I asked him if it looks the same today as it did 50 years ago, he said it does.....I'll see if I can get a picture of it....

I only told the story of the rock with the flag on it because I thought some folks might be entertained by the thought, you don't see a rock with a
flag on it every day or a flag seemingly floating on the surface out in the middle of the bay. I hadn't considered that someone might think it had
something to do with climate change which, by the way, I believe is happening. It was the thought of the road workers drilling all those holes in the
rock to set their blasting compound that got me thinking of the challenging project it must have been to drill the hole in the rock for the flag out
in the middle of the bay. I wasn't trying to hijack the thread but now that I re-read it I can see where one might read something else into what I
wrote.
If you want to talk about a topic other than the road project you should start a new thread....

The road construction progress has several threads here on Nomad, dating back to 2008. As someone who actually documents the progress year by year, I
find it amusing when, out of the blue, I am suddenly "wrong" with my 9 years of observations documenting the end of pavement advances. Those figures
show the rate as I have stated. That the rate of change may happen was never questioned by me. I said it would be done sooner IF the rate changed. So
far, the rate is still unchanged.
The highway has been paved about 60 miles from Puertecitos over the past 9 years (Spring 2007 to Spring 2016). 60/9 = 6.7 miles per year.
Approx. 20 miles, using the bypass that cuts 3 miles of the distance, to go. 20/6.7 = 3 years... IF THE RATE DOESN'T CHANGE.

why don't you post your raw data so we can see your data on road construction and derivation of construction rates?
