Mexicali beer!!!
I just tried the "new improved" Mexicali beer and it's great. I don't remember what the old brew tasted like as it disappeared in the early seventies
but this lager is very tasty. I highly recommend that beer lovers try this beer.

You know Dave, Olympia Beer used the slogan, 'It's the water... and a whole lot more'
The New River flows through Mexicali and has the reputation as the most polluted river in the world. So, Mexicali Beer probably could use that same
slogan! LOL

Must be...
It's undoubtedly the consumers of the beer that are polluting the river. Only makes sense...just station some of those temporary outhouses around so
they don't contaminate the river. Of course big industry and poor sewage systems don't play a part...

Cerveza Mexicali
First beer I ever had at 7 a.m. was a Mexicali in a clear bottle at the bar in Puertecitos, about 1972. We were pre-running for the 500 and woke up
early on the beach and went into town for breakfast. Mexicali it was. Very pale, tasted different from any beer I ever tasted (maybe it was the
early morning hour) but it hit the spot.
Came home and told a fellow at my Modesto Kiwanis Club about it. He smiled and said " my father was the brewmaster there during Prohibition."
Wish I could remember his name and more of the story. Said his father was a much older man, that they lived in Calexico, and his father walked to the
cerveceria every day.
Would love to know if the story was true, he seemed to be a most credible guy.

Cerveza Mexicali, La Cerveza De Baja
It is indeed brewed in Tecate. The brewery was establised in 1923. In fact I am enjoying one right now!(6:50AM) The price @ Walmart in Mexicali is
only $2.96 a six pact and sin deposito. I buy it every trip north.

History
That brew name has a rich and long history. Including, but not limited to, being flown from the brewery (kegs in passenger seats) of a prop job to the
distribution points! Back when...

Thanks for the tip!
I like to brew my own but I have always only used boring tap water. Might just have to stop and fill me up a bucket of NEW RIVER water for my next
batch!
