There are Reports of a Propane Shortage in BCS,

There are reports that there is a shortage of Propane in La Paz and Los Cabos. We noticed that the bulk delivery truck with the loud PA system hasn’t been by in the last 2 weeks but didn’t think anything about it. Today a friend who has a friend who works at a Propane Co. said that he was told that some suppliers are out and that there’s a general shortage.

Anyone having problems getting gaz? Before we left San Felipe the truck that exchanges cylinders missed coming 2 Thursdays in a row. At the time we didn’t think anything of it.

We are no where near BCS but the guy who has bringing Propane to our campo for the last two decades now makes a point to give everyone his number and asks for a text. That way he doesn't have to drive around honking and waste fuel.

YMMV

Propane shortage

Propane very scarce in southern Baja from La Paz to Cabo. Comes from mainland by ferry to La Paz but hear it is very backed up. That supply chain shortage thang rears it’s ugly head me thinks🤷‍♂️

Interesting, they were offloading a 40’ container in Pescadero last week. I spoke to the guy supervising the operation. He said it came from the mainland and took a lot of time. Part of the reason for the delays was 5 ferry breakdowns!

That could have something to do with the propane problem.

The Gringo Gazette said that the backlog is the result of one side of the La Paz pier being blocked by a broke down ship (ferry?). They said it is backing up freight by 3 weeks and it will be at least a month before the ship is repaired. Cargo is being rerouted to Mexicali from the mainland and then driven down south.

Hard to believe there's nothing out there to tug or push it out of the way.

The Gaz Man Cometh! (Finally)

After noticing an increased number of propane hauling doubles headed south to Cabo for the last few days the gaz delivery truck started showing up today and made 3 return trips to Rancho Nuevo.

Seems as though the supply is catching up with the backlog.
