Bridge to the mainland
Gringo Gazette is reporting today that the 5 Northern governors are discussing building a bridge from BCS to Sonora.
I have acquired a large block of stock in this venture and will be happy to re-sell some to my pals here on Nomad..... pending Doug's approval, of
course

Would go near the mid-drift islands. 60 miles across. Basically from San Fransquito to Kino Bay.
I've cross there by boat a couple times. The narrowest part of the Sea of Cortez.

But the mid-rift depth is close to 2 miles

Nothing wrong with dreaming big. Escalera Nautica was a fabuloso idea when it was first scratched onto a margarita stained bar napkin at Cueva De Los
Tigres (in my screenplay) some decades ago. Until it's shown that it can't be done its viable.

The deeper section will be bridged with pontoons that will rise and fall with the tides. What could go wrong?
I think you should dump some of your bridge stocks and send the money to me. I can get you in on the ground floor of the pontoon production!

I'm all for improvements in Baja. It's not as though I'm rooting for them to fail but at this point talk is cheap. It seems to be hype to get people
interested in visiting. A 60 mile long bridge is pure fantasy when they have a difficult time just maintaining their roads.

I read an article in one of the spanish language newspapers a couple days ago. I think the term "bridge" is a gross mis translation. The word
'bridge" is a metaphor. From what I could read it is going to be a highway in Baja (North) that connects the west coast to the east coast. The goal
is to bring more maritime tourist traffic to the ports on the NW coast of mainland in Sonora. It's going to be a project that somehow carries boats
across the peninsula so they don't have to go around the tip. Kind of a scaled down version of the Escalera Nautica. I may not be 100% correct, but
that's what I gleaned out of the article.

I thought someone had by accident thrown in some old stuff about the Escalera Nautica together with the new bridge project
