Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy thanksgiving!
Get stuffed!
For your holiday reading:
The pilgrims didn't invite Native Americans to a feast. Why the Thanksgiving myth matters.

You mean stories of breaking bread with the natives are BS? Who knew?
I suppose stories of colonial genocide are less palatable.

Oh, really... do we need to go down this rabbit hole?
Goat, why not post why this a National holiday?
*From Wiki:
The event that Americans commonly call the "first Thanksgiving" was celebrated by the Pilgrims after their first harvest in the New World in November
1621. This feast lasted three days and was attended by 90 Native American Wampanoag people and 53 survivors of the Mayflower (Pilgrims).
Thanksgiving has been celebrated nationally on and off since 1789, with a proclamation by President George Washington after a request by Congress.
President Abraham Lincoln (R), in 1863, proclaimed a national day of "Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens",
calling on the American people to also, "with humble penitence for our national perverseness and disobedience ... fervently implore the interposition
of the Almighty hand to heal the wounds of the nation".
Lincoln declared it for the last Thursday in November. On June 28, 1870, President Ulysses S. Grant (R) signed into law the Holidays Act that made
Thanksgiving a yearly appointed federal holiday in Washington, D.C. On January 6, 1885, an act by Congress made Thanksgiving, and other federal
holidays, a paid holiday for all federal workers throughout the United States.
*I added the (R) next to the two presidents' names.
*on edit. Happy Thanksgiving, PLEASE!

Yes, the native americans partied with the immigrants!
The true story is a more interesting than the fictionalized story!

seems everyone wants to claim the first thanksgiving (except those that want nothing to do with it) but I gotta go with historians that tell us it was
actually held at Alice's Restaurant.

A time for prayer
I'll start; Oh Lord...won't you buy me...a Mercedes Benz....
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

AK,
Though some here will obviously disagree. The song is ironic as God answered her. “Mercedes Benz” was the last song Janas ever recorded. She died
3 days later in a hotel room on Sunset Blvd west of Fairfax Blvd. I actually was in the same room a few days later. It almost across the street from
where Belushi died.

That would be too weird for me. If I have my facts right, her cover of Kris Kristofferson's "Me and Bobbi McGee" was released after her death. It
was probably her greatest hit.

I fail to see what is "ironic" about a singer recording a song and dying of a heroin overdose 3 days later, or how "God answered her". You Christians
sure have some bizarre notions.
