Where is everyone and what have Nomads been up to?

Seems to be pretty dry here without trip reports and trip photos appearing as frequent as in the past. Summer vacation was always (almost always) a Baja trip for me.

Getting old definitely changes things making camping a bit difficult. I suppose the cost of gasoline makes travel more restrictive when one is on a small fixed income. However, I am making plans with Pat (of the Baja Extreme 2016 tour) for a Baja expedition in the 4WD Toyota Tacoma he just bought to see a few sites south of Puertecitos. https://vivabaja.com/p916/

Like me, Pat is not deterred by the heat of the desert. So, there is that possibility. What about you all? Any plans or have you already gone and can you do a trip report for us?

Want to see my summer trip photos? They are grouped by year (and month) here on my VivaBaja website: https://vivabaja.com/photographs/

I think the best summer trip Baja Angel and I had together was in July 2012, for our 15 days to the tip and back. We stayed a few days with Nomad 'Baja Tripper' in La Paz who showed us a great time. We also spent a couple days with Shari at Bahía Asunción, meeting 'Baja Blanca' on the way (in La Bocana). In Bahía de los Angeles we visited with Mary Ann Humfreville and Paulina & Dern.

Hola David, Shelley and I recently returned from a 10 week - 2 day road trip in our 29’ 5th wheel. Went from coastal central Cal to Knoxville TN to visit our son. Look in the non Baja trip reports for a synopsis.

Oh how I miss the Nomad banter! I am still here in beautiful Bahia Asuncion with a new project in the works out here at the point where my Inn is...called Campo Bufadora which is an ocean front camp with a nice palapa, a few unique camp spots and a new little funky Casita Bufadora with a fantastic ocean view of the blowhole.

My next road trip is to Guerrero Negro to my grandsons birthday party!

Stop in and enjoy a beverage on the patio!

Just drove from LA to Colorado over 4 days. Brought my RZR. Long trip. Gonna be here for a 2-3 weeks.

Going to Baja at Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Pick from Utah yesterday.

Just returned from our 3rd Annual Summer Solstice fishing trip to BoLA. There were 9 of us this year staying at Los Vientos and fishing with Poncho Daggett and his crew. The first day wind kept us off the water but we more than made up for it over the next 2 days with YT in the 25#- 40# range, several nice Huachinangos, cabrilla, WSB and even a BSB estimated between 60 - 80#'s

Did they pick you up at the beach of the hotel or did you drive down to the boat ramp?

My time as a Residente Permanente in Los Cabos is coming to an end after more than 30 years of my "love affair" with Baja. Advancing age and threat of increasingly powerful hurricanes has motivated me to put my place for sale and live permanently in my equally loved Alto Californico where I can be closer to my family, doctors, and required medications. That doesn't mean that I won't be returning to Baja periodically, but it will be to Ensenada for a couple of days at a time, not full time. Eventually, all good things come to an end, but I will always cherish my Baja memories (during August and September, las puestas del sol are killers in Los Cabos, as good as Hawaii or better). AND, I do have the reputation for making World Class margaritas whether in Baja or Alta. I use a good, smooth Tequila and authentic Baja limes.

I'll be on BN a bit longer, but then probably less often.

Bummer on that, but making wise choices as I am sure the grandkids want you around for many years to come.. and maybe easier to visit you on this side of the border...

No, we drove down to Daggett's and then rode to the ramp in the panga from there. Staying at Los Vientos, this was the easiest and most effective way to do it, considering making bait in the morning and then having our catch filleted in the afternoon, where we had our trucks and ice chests so we could get our catch on ice immediately.

Actually, very excited and looking ahead to many days spent in Baja.
I'm retiring at the end of the year and my wife, and I will be part timing it from Dec-May in Los Barriles. We bought a place there 4 years ago and have been fixing it up, "making it ours" in preparation for this next chapter in our lives... Can't wait.

Felicidades on your retirement. Jesse Ventura, former professional "wrestler" and Governor of Minnesota, lived in your area. I used to see him all the time at Costco in San Lucas. I haven't seen him in years, so I don't know if he still lives there. Buena suerte, amigo.
