I took a photo in Dec. 1988 that looks like it was taken at the same spot as this one.
I didn’t know about the power of hurricanes then and wondered why the boats had been “abandoned.”

Large fishing boats in the pic have been stripped of deck gear. I suspect the boats were old and dragged up on beach for scrap and salvage, and not
put there by hurricane.

Gotta agree with The Goat -- the boats were there for salvage.
With apologies to John M, I tried to massage the old photo with Photoshop. I think there's a slight improvement.

The white building on the left edge (by the former ice plant) should be a hint... It is 'new' compared to the 70s.

On Google Earth the 2005 historical satellite image is a close match to the postcard. You can see the big boat on the left side of the picture and
the pond in the estuary looks the same. By 2012 the boat and the pond are gone. So probably around 2005 or a little earlier.
I would say that those boats were floated in there on a high tide. That is why they are in the estero viejo.
