A short, non-Baja trip with an interesting twist! -- Update 3/23
All I did was drive out to my property, and as I passed my neighbors driveway his two shepherd type dogs came out to chase me. Nothing out of the
ordinary about that, but this time they were joined by a half-grown deer!
I learned that a few months ago, a starving orphaned fawn showed up on his property. Rob decided to bottle feed it, and the dogs seemed happy to have
something to protect.
The deer is doing well and is now living as nature intended it to, but it comes back sometimes to play with the dogs!
Today apparently was a play date, and who knew that chasing cars would be fun for a deer? The three of them chased me about fifty yards, then turned
around and went back to their yard.

If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!

Sounds like those shepherds are doing shepherd things!

Today I talked to the two other people who use our private road, and they have both had the same experience! The deer sometimes makes the rounds with
his two dog buddies, and will let people pet it if the dogs are getting attention.
Rick says it is a little "button buck" and will have antlers next year.

That is very cool and seems highly unusual, that a deer would bond with dogs in that way. I could see a deer that's been rescued and bottle-fed being
unafraid of the dogs in the household, but to actually engage in dog-like and not at all deer-like activities with them, and enjoy playing with them,
is wild.

The deer hasn't chased me lately, but he still hangs out with the dogs. One of my other neighbors spotted the three of them down by my pond
yesterday, and the deer was not at all afraid of his husky mix.
It occurred to me that perhaps the deer's behavior is affected by what he is browsing on. The place he is hanging out is a cannabis grow operation,
one of the few actual legal ones in our area.
