[Edited on 9-10-2025 by mtgoat666]
Woke!
Hands off!

will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.”

I don't think Mario is going to amount to much without his brother.
If you are not living on the edge, you are taking up too much space!
"Could do better if he tried!" Report card comments from most of my grade school teachers. Sadly, still true!

The National Hurricane Center states that Mario dissipated at around midnight today. While it's true that the storm system no longer has a
well-defined center of circulation, there's still a great deal of moisture in the atmosphere that seems headed for Baja, as shown in the attached
image from Weather Underground. Things are going to stay soggy for awhile.

And now NHC says storm has reformed, but will stay offshore. Does show some beneficial rains coming to baja, and maybe even socal later this week…

I can only dream of the possible waves in the Bay of Conception where life begins. haha
After passing by that coastal dreamland for over fifty years and imagining a swell peeling off of those gentle points, they must have their moments on
rare occasions.
I have never heard any story about surfing that far up the Sea of Cortez.
My own surfing experience took me as far north as Point Arena north of Cabo Pulmo on a huge day when no one made it out in my chosen go to spot.
I found waves peeling off a few feet overhead for a couple of hundred yards down the sandy point by the Point Arena lighthouse. How did I have this
rare gem to myself?
I would have welcomed some other to share this rare occurrence.
On my drive north, I passed a crew of the famous or infamous, haha, town folk who choose to make the long paddle out to waves breaking way out at the
end of the southwest facing side of Cabo Pulmo Point.
No jet skies. No boats. That wave they paddled out to was so far out there that I knew it might be worth me driving on for something more suited to
my continuing existence. haha It was.
Sea of Cortez swells are a rare dream inducing inspiration to this observer. I will dream those dreams for all the days I am given.

Mario might make a Norcal run
Our local forecast is saying that remnants of Mario could reach as far as the Tahoe area with nocturnal thunder showers later this week.
It is tinder dry here, with quite a few lightning strike fires so far this season along the highway 49 route.

Chippy, you win the prize.
The prize of knowledge, that is.
Surfed with them and others many times. I was always out at dawn at my favorite place trying to beat the 'townies' and the crowd they always brought
with them. I usually had a good hour to an hour and a half or so to myself and my local friends before the town crowd made the drive out there.
When it was large, having a few others out there was appreciated.
Plenty of waves to share. For the most part. haha

Slight correction. The southwest side of Cabo Pulmo Point should have been called what it is.
Punta Frailies. sp?
That breaking wave way out at the end is as mysto a spot as there is.
Hey, JK, tell us about that day? You and MD must have ridden some monsters.
The few waves I saw break when I stopped for a look that day were so far away one could only guess how big they were.
Your group was waxing up when I stopped by on my way to someplace within reason of my will to survive. haha
That paddle out was a long one.
Peace love and fish tacos.
