Insurance claim issue finally solved
Filed a claim latter 2025 for an accident that I had in BCS. Jumped through all necessary hoops to initiate process and then waited, and waited, and
waited some more. Finally decided to contact the Vagabundos del Mar to assist me after receiving this email from Chubb:
I am so sorry for the delay in my Response. The issue here is that for some reason, Mr. Boe’s policy in our system is not being applied to his
claim, making not possible to add any payment information. We have already tried opening new claims and other internal processes, getting the same
issue every time. A report to our IT team has been made by me and we’re pending for their response.
We are doing everything that we have in our hands to solve this matter as quickly as possible. As soon as I get any new information regarding this
payment, I’ll be sharing it with you all in this email chain.
Please do not hesitate to contact me in case you have any other questions in this

Once the Vagabundos became involved on my behalf the situation was solved within a short time. Mil gracias to the Vagabundos Del Mar Travel Club for
their assistance in this situation.

Chubb handled a workman's comp claim for me about a year and a half ago, but even though I never had to file paperwork beyond the initial claim, I was
surprised to learn that they didn't think it was necessary to share payment details with me. Oh well.

I only carry liability (and get out of jail) insurance on my old vehicles. I am pleased to report that in all my Baja trips I have never had to use
it!

My biggest problem dealing with legal forms in Mexico was their constant ability to misspell names when they were transcribing from one document to
another. We had about 5 or 6 aliases and 3 different addresses created from only 7 legal documents.
A person starts suspecting this was done purposely and not by consistent errors.
Only happened once up here by an inattentive secretary without our knowledge, and that one was difficult enough to rectify at Equifax when we happened
to check our credit ratings.
I think it's likely your policy got "lost" due to a transcribing error. We got in the habit of double checking our name and address on legal documents
every time we bought insurance or paid out anything that required a factura before we signed any forms or purchased insurance. Errors were caught and
corrected more than 50% of the time.

Are there any alternatives to Chubb since they appear to be the insurer of most of whichever source we buy our Baja road insurance from?
I have been lucky over the decades and rarely needed to make a claim. I guess that makes my insurer lucky too.
Chubb has been there all along through different carriers or contractors, over the decades.
Is there really an alternative or is this a monopoly in some form?

I think that years ago the Vagabundos contracted with someone else but can’t remember the name. Over the past 60 + years I’ve had 3 claims, all
settled to my satisfaction.
