weekend report...San Felipe...

Went down Thursday afternoon....from ORANGE COUNTY....breezy and cooler was the call...PETE'S CAMP...MIRAMAR BAR...the usual suspects for a race weekend...downtown Friday morning for photos and find friends ....camp ZOO ROAD Friday night.....raindrops start falling lightly about midnight with HEAVY clouds on the horizon.....

Sat morning 6 am hear first reports on SCORE radio of rain on course before start....8:30 am.....RAIN hits....came down good...crowd runs for vehicles...drunks tough it out and "play" in the storm .....rain passes and race starts....we're on!!!....:bounce:

Leave S.F. 2:30 sat afternoon.....Mexicali crossing 90 minutes:(......I -8....to SAN DIEGO....starts raining...harder....turns to freezing rain.....turns to snow...road iced over....crashed cars everywhere.....have never seen such a mess....took 4 hours to get to San Diego on return instead of 1 1/2 hours on way down.....

I love it.....

Hey surfer Jim we must of been yards away spent the night there near zoo rd intersection.

Rain was nice.. trophy trucks where awesome about 29 of them. I counted them.

Cut across the intersection to rd marker 98 and only saw about 5 trophys 2.5hrs later must of been a tough course lots of them broke before mile 98.

Came back throug Ensenada and boy was it snowing 10miles before ojos negros JUst beautiful.

About half foot of snow when we drove by around4pm.

We watched ZOO until the class sevens came by and went across to the course as it hit the other end of Zoo road....lots of trophy/class1 vehicles running with the slower classes at that point.....

I was in the same mess up on I-8. I managed to get off the freeway and take the back roads. I was amazed at the stupidity of these people. Two wheel drive, bald tires, no chains and think they will go play in the snow. People would stop right in the middle of the road (not shoulder) and let their kids go sleding on I-8. I have never seen it like this before.
