Great photos Judy... The bell tower is the only one in Baja detached from the church. One of the bells has the name of the next mission that was to be
founded (but never was): Santa Maria Magdalena... ruins of the attempted site were possibly found in 1966.

No two are alike, so I hope to see all of them sooner or later.

Yes, Paula is correct as many are disappearing in our lifetimes!
All the adobe ruins are melting away without rain protection! San Fernando is almost gone compared to what I saw in 1974 on my first visit to it...
Santo Tomas as well...

I agree Paula that's my goal right know, to
see or try to see all the missions including the sites.even do I think San Pedro Martir is going to be impossible.. >>))*>

I gotta vote for Mision Santa Maria first and San Borja second.
Santa Maria is a treat in solitude and wild beauty and San Borja is the center of some great four wheel exploring. Get Jose's help (house next to the
Mission) if you don't don't want to explore alone. Very nice family.
Go to nearby picto site Las Tinajitas, old Rancho San Gregorio up a canyon several miles south, hike or mule ride the El Camino Real, whatever your
interests are Jose and family can help you. Not much english spoken.

i like san borja alot, it is really pretty and it has hot springs, a small museum inside, and best of all the people there are soonice and very
helpfull, also there are cave paintings up in the sierra and sometimes you can see borrego simarron up in the hills...but then again i love the bell
tower at santa gertrudis it is also very beautiful but anyway san borja is my all time favorite but i like all missions because of they're history and
greatness...

Actually Neal one of Jose's sons ( Genaro ). wich was our guide on our last april trip to S Borja, he speaks enough english to keep a good
conversation he took us to see las tinajitas the hot springs and the mission..
