water temps up to 80 degrees in Asuncion
Wow, yesterday we had such a lovely swim although the swell was very large and to our delight the water was up to 80 degrees F according to a cruising
yacht anchored here. The Baja Ha Ha race flew by here a couple days ago with their spinnakers flying in a fairly light wind. The weather has been
exceptional the last week just like summer!

Sails....Wing on wing! A great sight.
Wow...80 degrees on that side! Different for sure. Wonder how the icecaps are doing up north? Better start marking high water lines each week,
SiReNita. Have fun in the surf!

Man I envy you. The water here is cold and dirty. ( Rosarito beach ) I think it is in the high 60's to very low 70's. But every time someone that we
know gets in, they get a rash or sick with some sort of virus.
Could be the septic trucks dumping near by. Even though they say it is only water from the laundry places.
Have a Baja Day

It's still polluting the sea - no wonder people get sick!!

This heat wave is sooo weird...no wind and it's been in the 90's all week and the water got up to 84 degrees and was 88 degrees at one point according
to a cruising sailor here. Doesn't look good for the abalone next year if this keeps up much longer. Sure is lovely for snorkeling though...the water
is crystal clear and the cruisers here can see their anchor 30' down clearly! That is the up side of most people having outhouses and septic
fields....no sewage in the ocean!!

So, how much is the cost of an 8 person septic tank and field installation ? Is delivery of the tank and pipes a problem ? Any Nomads have a handle on
the costs ?

Good point TT. I also thought about that while reading the post. Those kelp beds at Sqn Roques wont stand more than a couple of seasons of that kind
of temperature. That's the southern boundary of kelp growth and they're already on the fringe of conditions that are tolerable. A couple of months of
those temperatures probably wont do that much damage. Springtime is the critical time for their growth.
It does make one ponder though. Those kelp beds are major ecosystems and if they went it would change sea life to a large degree in that area.

the kelp beds in front of our house are gone now and tons of dead seaweed and kelp has washed up on the beaches...nasty....so yep there is a serious
concern about the effects of this el niño particularly on the abalone.
Oh and to Thomas Tierra, Juan is not the kind of dude to pull his hair out...he treasures his pony tail! He's the "ni modo" kind of mr.mellow guy.

Jorgie, we live on a rock and can't dig to put in a septic field unless a Nomad (maybe Zigzaggin) can help us out with some plastic explosives!! The
normal cost of putting in a cement block septic system here is at least $700 so that lets most of us out this high tech crapper technology!
