Hi everyone from shakerville....well, it seems as if the activity is subsiding for now...only a few small ones...naturally the last one was when I was in the shower again a ffew moments ago but they are just window rattlers not like the nasty ones last week so half the town has returned today to thier homes...but not many are very trusting that it wont shake again but most fishermen are back to work but lots of the wives are still with family in other places until they are certain it is safe again. I am kind of pleased we had to evacuate as we had a lovely holiday in San roque and I had time to do a much needed clean out of the cabin and fixed some stuff. Also the horse ride out there is so lovely, I can beach comb, whale watch, bird watch and I even found a coyote skull so I can make some earings out of his teeth! But we may move home tomorrow...(not sure I want to!) so talk to ya then.

Glad to hear that you are ok, and having a lovely time of your "holiday". Thank goodness you got rid of that junk;), you know you shouldn't have it there;);););).

Seriously, I'm so happy to hear that you are ok, and that your house is still standing. Take care and enjoy your beach combing!!!!

and most of all it sounds like a safe place too have a SAFE shower....goodness that is important and leaves you very vulnerable should you have to run naked through the streets.
Your holiday sounded wonderful and shame on you (us) for not going more often if only for a few days. Hope all is well at home and by the grace of god may there not be something to have to put on the top of your "to do" list......keep us posted on what is going on.....my good amigo has property there and it seems to trouble him not really knowing what is going on.....your an inspiration.....damn you make good "limonada" ....your brave....GOD BLESS YOU AND EVERYONE REALLY!!!! I guess if your going to ask might as well ask for us all.....

Hey there nomads, we're BAAAACK! Yesterday we came home but dagnabit if there weren't about 10 temors in the afternoon...one real jolter just after I unpacked my bags at the normal witching hour of 4:30 pm!! Whoooaa...luckily my pal Wendy came to my rescue with a bottle of good wine to calm my nerves. There were 2 more last night that shook some of the cruisers anchor chains too. But today there has been nothing yet....maybe the afternoon show will be good!! It's good to be home but I won't put the things back on the shelves yet and will keep the emergency car packed too just in case. Town has pretty much got back to normal now too but everyone is still on edge.

I'm glad SHARI that situation is at least not threatning, but understand that the ongoing tremors make you jumpy - would me too. Missed your posts, and information.
Great you are back!!

Welcome Home!!!!

We are all relieved that you are now back at home.

I can't wait to see your pictures. I hope you will tell us more about POSADAS Navidenas.

I have spent many Christmases in Mexico, more than in the USofA in fact. I have seen these wonderful things in front of peoples houses called Naciamentos, excuse my spelling. Are people there putting up Naciamentos? I hope I see some on this trip.

So it's Friday and after a very mellow day yesterday, only a couple small rumbles, I figured today might bring on the fireworks....and I was right...at 2:30 the show started with a pretty big one...I figure around 4.5 as our floor split and 4.5 seconds long...wake up call! then in the last half hour there have been constant tremors and one other pretty big one. good thing my pal Wendy left some tequila here so I can calm my nerves enough to write this. I'm sure the road is busy with cars leaving again. My sister in law got back the day before yesterday and that day there was a fair shake and she had to go to the hospital as her blood pressure went way up...the hospital was packed with nervous nellies. I hear some folks just arent coming back now that they're settled in with relatives. Hey, maybe there will be some good deals on houses!! Juan wants to pack up and stay in San roque as he feels there is going to be a humdinger one of these days...I sure hope he's wrong. I heard an interesting thing today from a friend of mine who is volunteering to check the seismic instruments...appartently there are an average of a hundred tremors a day here!!! Whoa nelly...that seems like alot...La Paz has about 400 recorded tremors a YEAR...and this equipment has only been installed for 11 days and has recorded around 800 tremors...Hmmmm. doesn't that seem a bit excessive??? It's all fine and well they are telling people not to panic, it's not dangerous, it's normal blah blah blah...but I understand these instruments only record the data on the tremors....they really don't know what the heck is really going on down under DO THEY??? Stickers, can you pass on this info and ask your buddy for his opinion??? People say it would be better for the gringos to bring their technical know how and better equipment....generally not too many are trusting the guys here and people are still pretty worried and can't relax....and after todays activity I can vouch for that. Seeing how extreme sports are so popular these days, perhaps there is a future in earthquake tourism???

----Your sense of humor coupled with your courageousness is an inspiration to all of us, I am sure. :O:yes:

Please stay alert, and stay safe. The energy being displayed beneath your feet is awesome, as I am sure you realize. They (the scientists) need to get some equipment out there NOW that MEASURES any "bulgeing" in the surface topography-----I am still very concerned about rising magma.

Your posts are outstanding!!!!

That's the weird thing, this is NOT generally a seismic zone if you check the maps there are no little red dots here. I can understand if some small fault is moving a bit, they say it is moving laterally....but it has been 16 days now of non stop trembling. I hear there was one in the gulf a couple days ago too...could some of this activity be related?? The folks here would REALLY like to know just what the heck is going on and we aren't getting any answers....just that it's normal, nothing to fear...no problem...just go on with your daily activities....this shouldn't affect production...well I'm tellin ya...it does affect everything when your wife is crying and shaking with nerves, or your husband won't shower in the house, when people sleep in their cars etc. We want to pretend we're fine but I see the weary bedraggled look in the peoples eyes and can attest to the strange effect this has on you physically and psycologically on a daily basis. That's why many just haven't come home and don't plan to do so until a good amount of time has passed with no seismic activity...I myself am a brave sort but I've been reading up on earthquakes and boy oh boy they are nothing to frig with. I think it is interesting the public relations guy they sent is sooooo cool and funny and puts everyone at ease...he does daily chats and talks at the school and church etc. My husband thinks they are lulling us into a dangerous realm by saying that it won't get any bigger than it has been....how can they possibly know that??

Interesting you should say that Barry as that is what my husband says and he's rarely wrong about anything...rats....although the scientists say no way jose...it's just these plates moving laterally but it's soooo close to the surface and so local...and so continous....and so scary....It's weird how that energy comes up through your feet and goes straight to your heart and rattles around your solar plexus....heart chakra area creating a strange feeling like your heart will burst and of course causes goosebumps...but it's hard to relax all that and it stays tight and tense...but that energy is exciting and mind boggling and disorienting....lots of people comment they have discontrolo...which means like they are disoriented, dizzy and just sort of dazed...we don't know what day it is and cant concentrate either...all muy interesante.

Isn't Mother Nature amazing. So is tectonic plate movement. I was in So. Cal for 3 major quakes and the power unleashed is awesome...Volcanic activity is another story. Any danger of pyroclastic flows at all in your area?
That's what I'd be more concerned about. Nasty gasses and molten hot rocks are very unforgiving. Stay safe.
