Oh Shari, I hope you are ok, what a living nightmear this must be. I think Juan is correct and you and all your furry friends (and the feathered one if you still have it), should stay out at your cabin!!!!

Tequilla helps everything, so get as much as you can, and head back to san rouque. It doesn't sound like the science guys know what is going. They say nothing major, but if your floor cracked, I would second quess them.

We are thinking of you and Juan's family, and hope that you have a good christmas dispite the turmol going on there.

Lots of love and tequila!!!

HOla amigos...this is the sunday morning report....yesterday was a very quiet mellow day with only a few noticeable rumbles. It seems after an active day, it calms down for a bit. This morning there has only been 2 pretty mild ones so far. Last night I had the guy who checks the seismic equipment over for dinner....very interesting indeed. They have installed 6 monitors which they put in differint areas to triangulate the data to try to figure out where the heck this monster, er little bugger is located (they keep telling us this is minor and normal) It seems now that the tosca abreojos fault is too far away to cause this very localized shaking and now think it is a minor fault that YES folks, runs right under our place and along the shoreline. AHA...this sounds more like it and I described all our experiences to him. We discussed the "HIVE" which is what they call this thing and he admitted that they really can't tell if it will continue, slack off or increase...they think because it's such a little fault that it won't get any worse...some think it has peaked last week and will taper off now. But nobody really knows. I don't like it one bit that Juan thinks we may have a bigger one. I am facinated by what all this has done physically and psycologically to the folks here. They have permanently installed a very cool PR guy to talk to everyone and have 2 psycologists working at the schools to deal with the kids fears. I heard stories last night of how it has made people sick...vomiting and very high blood pressure etc. Some have vowed never to return, others still don't sleep in their houses and stay with friends. The hospital is very busy. Personally there are days when my emergency pack migrates back to the bedroom but then a shaker will happen and I find myself putting it by the door again, like this morning...I have a bad feeling and got some stuff ready to run. I figure each quake weakens our house and if a little bigger one does happen, it may result in walls caving in??? I guess it's good to be a little bit prepared anyway. The PR guy has told people what to do in the event of a big one and has suggested that everyone have emergency bags ready and a plan in place. But then I think about all the cities that lie on real big faults and laugh thinking none of those people have emergency bags ready. Anyway...anyone heading our way be sure to pack an extra bottle of spirits for us! Stay tuned for the afternoon show!

Everyone should have an emergency pack---we all just tend to ignore what mother nature can do. Having experienced lots of earthquakes around California, I know that the initial quake never frayed my nerves like the aftershocks---always that feeling of OK, how bad will this one be.

Now, just in case we do make it down there, what is your preference in spirits?

Thanks Dianne, hey beggars can't be choosers..any old nerve medecine will do. Rum is my personal favorite...nothin like a cuba at happy hour which sems to correspond to the quake hour too! But the tequila seems to take the edge off those BOOMS. I've also been suckin back some rescue remedy (Bach's Floral remedy)on the big ones. The emergency pack is an interesting concept...just what do ya need? Mine keeps getting bigger and my dilema is what to bring, papers, CD backuups, $$, candles, pumkin seeds, books, radio and charger, toilet paper...

Unfortunately we finished off the tequila a couple days ago but luckily a cruising couple donated a couple bottles of wine which I'm hoping to save for Chrismas unless things get crazy before then. Thanks for your concern Gypsies...oh by the way I've had some requests for prints of the picture of you guys and the fish from some of our amigos here who met you...somehow I don't think they are interested in the red viejas!!:saint:

The troops are on their way. See you in January.

Glad to hear psychological help is available for the kids. This sort of thing can be very traumatizing. I am impressed with the response.

See you soon.

I can't wait to meet you...you can stay with us if you don't mind a few things that go BANG in the night(and day) I don't know anyone in Loreto and do get gas there sometimes...I'm heading there in a couple weeks too to pick up my family...it will be nice to get out of town for a couple days.

Shari....are you going to be here a few days prior or after you pick up your family? I have a spot for you if your by yourself.as far as comfort....but for that matter could always make room for as many as we have too. I would cook and treat you like a queen....if you can handle dogs that is....
And Strokers Reef Bar is just across the street where all the locals hang out (mostly gringos of course) so you really would meet everyone in town who probably know you as a result of this thread.
I just finished looking at your beautiful web site and need to ask....is that YOUR house on that point.....because if it is I am going to go immediatly have 3 shots of tequilla right now.....darling girl, no wonder your a mess....I had NO idea of your location and almost fainted. My place is available to you at any second if you want to leave early and wait for your family....as far as a safety pack...rocket booster installed on the back of your car...and I am not kidding.....you better take care of yourself.....my prayers are with you...

Yes that IS our place stuck out there on that rock...some crazy gringo built it years ago! My husband bought it cheap as nobody wants to live out here in "Alaska" (the locals call it that as it's windy and colder out here than in town) I love it here but it has been stressful during the earthquakes. Yesterday only 2 small ones I felt so today should perk up I figure....got my pack by the door still. Treat ME like a queen...now there's a concept....I could get into that! JUst my daughter Sirena and I will be coming and we will surely visit and check out the reefer bar???sounds swell! Can I put that rocket booster on my kayak? One other point of interest I forgot to mention is that the kids in all the schools here have moved outside...all their desks and blackboards and everything is outside...I'll try to go get a photo....the kids aren't complaining though as they only have classes for 2 and a half hours a day because they aren't allowed to go into the bathrooms at the school so get to go home....cool eh!

Earthquake in British Columbia-Dec 10/06

Nomads,
A 3-point-something earthquake was registered just north of Penticton, British Columbia last night. We rarely get quakes in this area, but was wakened by one several years ago thinking something landed on the house.....

So, I better pack the truck and dirtbike and get south so as to enjoy the temblors in a much nicer climate...

I leave Dec 14th at early o'thirty and can hardly wait...will be in Mulege by the 19th...

Shari,
I think your place is unbelievable....I can unstand how you can love it....whether it is colder or windy then other areas....coming from Beautiful Bandon by the sea where is is always windy and cold still does not take away from the beauty. I cannot wait to have the honor of stopping by and visiting in the future....maybe I can talk Farasha to come with me when she comes out and the 2 of us will come up for some fun at your place. I just pray all goes well and your life gets back to normal very soon so you can relax. I am so glad that the services offered to help those during this event may be of some help until the crisis passes.....take care and will see you soon...
