Small volcanoes in Baja
Spending this rainy day flying over Baja from my PC, I spotted this small volcano... southwest of Laguna Chapala:

it looks like a dry lake.

Looks like a mini volcano to me based on the color and the dierction of water flow in the gullies.
Someone needs to look at in in Google Earth, i do not have that at work...

when you check it in 3D and do a fly over you can see it is a dry Laguna.
water flows in but there is no outlet so it just evaporates.

Gee, thanks David.
I'm suppose to be cleaning house this afternoon as my fiancee's sisters and their husbands are flying in tomorrow, not to mention still trying to
organize from the kitchen remodel. So, I'm looking at this volcano, which by the way is a real beauty, but I find myself cruising on up the sea of
cortez and making my way up to Bahia de Los Angeles and then across to Guardia Island and traveling all the way around it which takes some time on the
highest resolution.
An hour and a half later I realize I haven't done a darn thing towards cleaning the house because I started to look at the volcano and the rest of
Baja.

Ok, that was an hour ago when it had been an hour and a half, boy this is addicting.....
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

We have had a place at Alfonsina's for 30 years and have had pumice wash up on our beach every day. Those islands off the coast are all
volcanos--they are called Las Islas Encantadas because the fishing is so good........They sit on ther southern end of the San Andreas Fault and are
gonna cause Baja to be a free country some day.
We fly down there almost always and a look at those islands and the general topography of Baja from the air is most instructive.

The dry lake is nearby and Chapala is a bit further east... That is a crater on a peak with erosion all around indicting the crater is at the top...
Sharks with his 3-D version proved it... You can see the big dry lake with an island, right east of the little volcano.
Another crater is Cerro Prieto, south of Puertecitos next to the gulf... but that is not high resolution... still, you can make out the crater... Isla
San Luis as well, with a crater half submerged in the gulf! The crater topped hills around San Quintin Bay ... again not in a Google High Resolution
area.
I am hoping you Nomads may find some...

It appears to be in the Mesa Alta area in the Almanac page 18 between I5&6. The dry lake would be El Isolote. The 2003 1000 race was to come thru
there but was changed. We preran that section. after the SF250 race we plan on doing a loop in thru San Antonio off hwy 1 at K252 and out this way.
Time permiting I'll try and find this valcano.

I didn't post any Google satellite links to the San Quintin volcanoes because that is not a high resolution area, yet.
