Trials and Travails with Dish Network

Continuing on a theme that was discussed earlier, I have noticed in the last week or so, that all of the Los Angeles Broadcast Stations which had been move to Spotbeam and were coming and going here in the SF area, but completely gone in some areas farther South, have ALL now Reappeared 24/7 at our location.

I'm wondering what the situation is elsewhere ?

Maybe they're building up to a Cutoff partially through the Super Bowl ??

Haven't heard anything from my customers but I'll ask. Most of them are now using Atlanta and San Francisco so they're probably not checking those channel numbers much anymore.

What channels are you seeing them?

I don't think DN cares about cutting off people from the Super Bowl by moving LA around because the move to spot beams was not done to defeat pirates.

If anything, they could put the LA Nets back on the CONUS beam once they have realized how much money they were losing by cutting off so many (gray market) subscribers who had to go elsewhere for the Nets.

LA

A friend of mine came North from Gonzaga yesterday on his way home and he said that they are still having the same LA Broadcast channel problem. Coming and Going. Sometimes they're there, sometimes (usually evening) they're not.

I've still got them ALL back 24/7. I checked the transponders and they are STILL shown on spotbeams 3 and 5 so it's all very strange.

The channels are 2 thru the 60s (plus the 8000s) just as they are broadcast in L.A. on my newer Legacy Receiver. The older Legacy equipment, of course, is on the 8000s only.

I sent in the paperwork on the SF-ATL channels, but by the time I headed South again I hadn't yet received them. Once I'm back in the U.S. for a week, I'll get that straightened out, but that's another story.

NOW, here's a Q. Since this AllAmericanDirect is an "Independent" company providing service and has NO CONNECTION with Dish Network (Chuckle, Chuckle), could you sign up and receive those channels (241-248 or 5731-5738) via a Dish Receiver even if you no longer subscribed to DISH ?
If Not, why Not ? Legally, Dish Network cannot be directly involved in distributing ANY Distant Network stations.

Just wondering.

Transponder 3 is on a spot beam, 5 is on CONUS.

Good question about AAD. I'll see what I can find out. I would think they can provide it whether or not you are subscribing to DN

Mea Culpa (5)

My error on that Transponder Info. I meant to say that they were all STILL on Spotbeams 1 and 3 where they had been moved to. It looks like the Big guys are on 3 and the misc small stations on 1. In any case, no different than when they were coming and going.

Yep its easy to get the DISTANTS from SF/Atlanta with no problems..
Yes you will need a Dishtv Receiver(No Big Deal}
But you will need to have a WHITE area as a address....
What you do is go into your computer and go into Yahoo maps and Find a ghost town in Nevada somewhere{Northeast of Reno}witha zip code
Then what you do is go into Antennaweb.org and type in the Zip code under the OPTIONS part of Antennaweb.org...Then if NO LOCAL stations are in your area then NPS will be happy to sign you up at $9.50 a month.
For some reason I am paying $7.50 a month with NPS with alll 8 stations...
Give them a address and Zip from ghost town or very small town and your set............Didnot think it was sooooo easy lol......
If you are happy with the stations that you have, you can buy another receiver from radioshack and say its for your vacation house.....Also tell them that the phone# your giving them is your Cell# and you don't have a landline at your vacation house..And they will charge your credit card each month with no bills going to the address........

All American Direct says, "If you do not have Dish Network we can not provide you with distant channels."

BTW, Comitan, didn't you have to change your addy with DN first, or does NPS not care what the address is on record with DN?

Dish Network Required

It would be interesting for someone with the time and the inclination to force AllAmerican to defend (legally) their "close" relationship with Dish Network in this regard. I'm sure that I'm not the only person who is convinced that this is a SHAM corporation setup to circumvent the Federal Court Ruling.

As much as I'd like to, once I'm back in the U.S. with my equipment and am able to establish the SF-ATL for which my Zipcode IS legally eligible, I'll just let it all slide.

Because I've been so irritated lately with Dish Network and their increasingly Adversarial Customer Service Stance, I came very close to dumping them and going over to DirecTV, either maintaining a "Bare" Dish account to add SF-ATL to one receiver or dumping the Dish Account entirely. Last night, I was busily computing hardware costs to replace my various antennas. Per your answer from AllAmerican, that wouldn't work and I can't get SF-ATL (or NY) through DirecTV.

Additionally, I had wondered whether or not, the new DirecTV Triple LNB 4-port Dish could be accessed by Dish Also since the LNBs are on the same frequency and both have services at 110-119. Reading farther, though, I find that the KU-service for the Standard channels on DirecTV are the 101 and 119 satellites. Their 110 is on a different frequency for HD service so, even if there were no other impediment, it kills that idea.
