Favorite Thing to Do........
As I sit her in the -31 (without windchill) and more snow than I can remember, I was thinking about my favorite thing to do when we are in Baja.
Top of my list:
1. RELAX
2. Sit in the sun on a beach with a good book, and a pacifico
3. Visit with Shari & Juan
4. Sit in the sun on a beach with a pacifico
5. Visit with Mick and Maria
6. Sit in the water on the Sea of Cortez side drinking!!

My 2c's worth:
1. Be glad we are not in the cold (we're now watching Calgary slip through another miserable day)
2. Watch the stars in the clear night air
3. Watch the warm glow of the afternoon sun illuminating the palms and the nearby hills
4. Listen to the wind in the palms
5. Enjoy a cold glass of wine after a day in the sun
6. Just be!

Maybe it should be what I spend the most time doing, since they must be my favorites, right?
1. Fixing whatever is currently broken, leaking, plugged, worn out, malfunctioning or just in need of periodic maintenance.
2. Cooking, eating and drinking. Not necessarily in that order, although it's sometimes hard to remember.
3. Doing dishes (I wish had enough money to just throw them out, like on Green Acres).
4. Cutting and splitting firewood and building and maintaining fires.
5. Hauling trash to the dump. The kids love it, especially when there's a dead cow or two.
6. Squeezing limes. What is the record for limes squeezed by one person in one day, I wonder?
Aside from all the zen satisfaction I get from the foregoing, I try to spend my copious spare time doing at least a few of these things:
1. Surfing.
2. Hiking.
3. Mountain biking.
4. Riding the dirt bike.
5. Reading.
6. Kicking back and surveying the horizon with a cold adult beverage (possibly with my eyes closed from time to time).

blow minds in the camp kitchen (no talking during dinner is a sure sign of success)
make new friends
put a serious dent in the local supply of cerveza

Favorite things to do in Baja
1. Make bait just off Coronado, 5 am, July 5th, any year...
2. Head out in "La Bombera" with Jose Luis to find some nice big kelp paddies....somewhere out past Punta Lobos...
3. Play with a dozen beautiful, flashing, jumping Dorados till at least noon.....
4. Arrive home, fillet catch, prepare ceviche and take a cool shower while the ceviche marinates.

Have a cold Pacifico
Walk along the beach with bajadog (Libbie, the Wonder Dog - Yellow lab)
Eat - almost anything
take naps
spend time with bajakid (granddaughter).........................

Me loves the tranquilidad of the Mulege river as it ebbs and flows: watch my fish-friend "George" jump at a low-flying insect; see an Osprey take a
birdbath in the shallows of a mangrove island as a white crane stands sentry-still.
Me loves to be scuba diving in the Sea of Cortez looking for my fish-friend "Chuck" the huge Cortez Angelfish who lives at about 30' depth off of
Playa Burro.

Playing with my Grandchildren on some hidden beach, frolicking in the warm ,turquoise-blue water and snorkling! The early morning (before sunrise)
heading out on the SOC to hunt for fish, yellowtail sammies on another deserted beach with an afternoon Margi,some more fishing, more snorkling,
playing in the water with the babies,heading back to "camp" with a nice sunburn and cooking our catch of the day(more Margis).Who needs more than
that???

Meeting old friends and looking for ones I have yet to meet.
Watching the clouds skitter across the sky as the wind blows the crest of the waves over backward while I watch the surf erase my footprints as I walk
along a secluded beach.
Hope with all of my heart that I will always be able to find the 'silence' of Baja as I remember of so much that she has given me while asking so very
little in return.
