Visit to Rosarito
Tempting the fates this morning! Heading down to Rosarito to visit a few good friends. Might even get mby to Nuevo York to see Dave.......that is if
I can get past........well you know........those problems facing a gringo who dares travel down those streets with the signs no one can see.

I tempted fate yesterday...
...and I will do so tomorrow and Saturday. I did notice that street signs were being blocked by cops so that nobody could tell "circulacion" from
"un sentido". There were no STOP signs, but I spotted some ALTO signs which were moving around on wheels and being put in front of driving cars just
so the cops could pull them over for running the intersection stop.
Bernie, it would be best if you kept your car on a leash after parking it.

Yeah Bernie ....
Listen to The Gull. He/she lives there and knows for sure that the place is less than forgiving and a trap for the unsuspecting. Im glad that Gull
finally came forward to warn fellow Nomads of the dangers in the Rosarito community. It is a team gesture.
Thanks Gull, for your honest evaluation.

Relieved!
I entered the pit and took my chances.........I drove every street between the new Calimax on the north and Rene's on the south. I confined my
wanderings between the ocean and the toll road because so few tourists venture to the east.
I looked carefully for any stop sign perched high on buildings and found none........I did almost run a few of the ALTO signs posted and clearly
visable in the center islands(?). This because I was gawking and searching for signs that I could not find high up on the side of buildings.
I had a ball and talked to folks I had not visited with in about three months. I was amazed when I asked what the population of the town was
now.......I would have said 70,000 which is much larger than the 15,000 humans I had found hugging the Pacific when I first ventured down......When
they said 110,000 people I finally realized Rosarito was no longer an isolated village. They say that a Walmart, a Costco, and a Starbucks are to
arrive shortly. They mentioned a few more but I was in such shock that the names did not register.
Horrors! Gull I didn't get you advise until I had returned home..............Can you believe that I left my car parked on a side street for hours and
miracles of miracles it was still there when I was ready to return. The hubcaps were still present, no dings, and not even a speck of gull poop was
to be seen.
Love my Sentri Pass.............4.48 minutes to cross.
Much larger than what existed in my mind........but still plenty of smiles to keep me coming back........Just not on weekends.

Bernie, I like your signature. I had been contemplating:

But, I'll hold off now.
Did I read that HERE?????

No clue.
Guess it does express the same thought. By reading the post here that thought just might be in a lot of folks thoughts.

Baja Bernie:
We are going down next week to check on Mar Y Sol progress. How do you get to the Sentri lane at San Ysidro?

I always take the free, old, road back from Rosarito and just keep on it through town, like you are going to the airport. When you hit Padre Kino
(the first one--as there are two) make a left and you are on your way, north, to the Sentri Lane. You will have to get around two traffic circles
before you go under a bridge and then you are home free. Just keep bearing north or right out of the circles.
I don't take the toll road because that causes you to double back through the Rio area and it wastes time.
Have a good time.

Try the first right after crossing the river on Cuahtemoc. Quickly turn right again and pass in front of CFE. There you will see via Rapida and turn
right. Stay on the side access road and turn right one block past the PEMEX. You will be driving along the LEY supermarket to the last little
traffic circle before the border at Pueblo Amigo. You will recognize the place. Normally this is faster because you do not have to wait for those
2-3 stoplights on Kino.

Bernie, tell the truth...you were the victim of a rape while in Rosarito, weren't you?
You didn't go to Dave's? Best anyway, he was closed.

Well, gull ----
Yes I could. It seems you're the one with difficulty in that regard.
By the way.... Isn't this ancient history?
