Baja Books

Recently we have had an outpouring of interest in all books that relate to Baja. David K has lead the way with a wonderful list of ‘historical’ books about Baja………he did sorta of pee me off when he neglected to even mention my books as well as numerous authors that I guess he does not consider ‘valuable’ contributors to Baja Fork Lore.

A slight smile and a chuckle is needed here to keep David from coming unglued…….hey! David we do love you.

Sure hope I have stirred up your interest because I wish to tell you about the 5th Annual Baja Authors Book Signing at the Pyramid Resort on May 5th which is coming up right around the corner. This will be one to tell your kids about………..Sure we got a guy who wrote a book about how to request a song from those wonderful Mariachis who crowd around you tables at almost every restaurant in Baja………We only have about twenty authors who will be at the Pyramid to discuss their books and talk about the thing that most interests us all…….Baja.

Bet most of you don’t even know that Keri’s husband, Mike, had a massive heart attack a few weeks back and that she grabbed a book by Doctor Curtis Page to find the best place to take him.
Keri is positive that the good doctors book, Mexican Health & Safety Travel Guide, a comprehensive directory of good hospitals and doctors who speak English in Mexico is responsible for Mikes proper treatment and recovery. The good doctor and Mike will be in attendance at this years signing.

Having seen a miracle I would strongly suggest that anyone living or spending any amount of time in Baja buy this book.

I really look forward to this event because it allows me to sit way down near the bar where it is fairly quiet so I can talk with all of my Nomad friends.

Okay enough burro stuff…………come on down and have a Baja Smile and a bit of fun.

Woops! I forgot…………..May 5, 2007 at the Pyramid Resort from 11:00am to 5:00pm

There is a bunch of other stuff happening and we will get to that later.

John

Well, It is a given that I will be there because someone has to carry the water for our hostess Keri who works so hard to make this event a huge success every year. That happy Limey guy, Graham Mackintosh will attend. Unfortunately, he says his new book-- "Marooned with Very Little Beer"---I swear that is what he told me that WAS the name he had picked,

Mary Ann Humfreville will attend to represent Mike's book and meet her fellow Nomads.

That is just, as you said--a teaser. Keri has a huge secret to drop on all of you--something that no Baja person would wish to miss---BUT I'll let her explode that gem when she is ready.

I will say that picking who will not be there would make a shorter list than who will be there...........She has some great new authors coming this year.

As they say "Come on Down" and wear a Baja Smile when you arrive.

Lot's of new authors coming

As Bernie said Dr Curtis Page is coming. All of us living or traveling in Mexico should have his book. It is a lifesaver. David Brackney from AAA map guides will be here. I know if you don't have his book already you'll want that too. Jinx Shwartz is bringng her new book . Serge Dedina will be here with his book, Saving the gray whale. Lot's of others. I'm trying to post our flyer but it is bigger than the 50k and I don't know how to make it smaller. . I'll update this list again later. Hope to see you all there May 5th,k:yes:;D:saint::tumble:

Bernie, are you there, did you read my reply yesterday?

Your books are on the same shelf as Graham's, Erle Stanley Gardners's, Mike McMahan's, Marvin Patchen's, Joseph Wood Krutch's, etc.

In other words, I am saving the best for last!

STAY TUNED!
