HUGE Thank You to Nomads
About 7 p.m. Wednesday I received word of a family emergency which required my immediate return from Ensenada. A personal disability keeps me from
being able to walk across the border with any kind of suitcase, and right off I was concerned about how to get to the San Diego airport.
While Magda began to phone family members hoping to find a ride for me, Gene/HoseA posted a request for help here on Nomads. The response was amazing
and overwhelming to me... by 10 that night Gene had arranged transportation for me from one of a number of offers.
To those of you who offered your assistance - thank you so much! The caring you showed for another Nomad is simply amazing, certainly appreciated,
and has given a boost to my faith in what good people y'all are.
To Fernando/fdt, who picked me up at the bus station in Tijuana, delivered me and my many maletas to the airport, and provided excellent and uplifting
companionship at a time when my spirit needed it - may the goddess bless and keep you and yours! You are one heck of a good person, amigo. I so
appreciate your big heart... and I owe you big time.

I also want to give a big thank you to Simone and the kids... who, I just found out, spent some good part of their morning cleaning the family car
inside and out. Gotta tell 'ya I could feel their caring throughout the drive! Yep, Simone and Fernando and their kids are real good people.

Yep, Fernando, I owe ever so much to Gene/HoseA and Magda, and am most grateful to each of them.
They invited me into their home for an extended time, taught me of life in a Mexican household, helped me improve my language skills tenfold, laughed
with me - and at me , and generally allowed me to enjoy the sunshine of being a part of their family. My heart overflows with love for them, and I am
forever grateful for their presence in my life.
As for Gene taking over and making all my arrangements during this emergency - I thank you, Amigo, with all my heart.
While I was still reeling with the shock of the news received that night, Gene calmly and reassuringly stepped right in with an agenda to get me home
safely and quickly. It took a good bit of communication and coordination on his part to make this happen... he is a clear, focused thinker with an
ability to carry through the task. I know that Gene has helped a lot of gringos who've found themselves in an emergency situation in Baja, and now
I understand how he does that.
I am also real grateful for Magda's help that night... calling all the family, cab companies, bus stations to make local arrangements... and doing so
while she and I were crying an arroyo of tears over the understanding that we'd be separated. Te amo, amiga, te amo.
And now, friends, I have to go cry some more of those tears.

I just want to say gracias for this post and especially those of you who offered assistance...this board is amazing...helpful, fun, informative and
sometimes nasty....I have met many people over the last year who are Nomad lurkers...when I ask if they post, many of them say Oh NOOO! because they
are afraid of being jumped on, attacked, criticized etc. etc...that makes me sad as THOSE are some of the folks I would like to hear from...hear their
opinions....do you think some of you nomads who are prone to criticize and attack people could maybe lay off so we could hear from all the positive
nomads out there?? Once again kudos to you lovely nomads who are ready to help out in a pinch...love ya

Shari, IMHO, the Nomad board is more sane and positive than it has ever been! I was just thinking how much so , in fact! Good thing you weren't around
during the Nancy Drew, Stephanie Days,etc... Natalie, I sure hope all is well with you and yours....I have a feeling it was NOT something to make a
joke about!

Wanta take this opportunity to thank all the Nomads who have offered their good wishes regarding Steve's back injury. Little by little he's healing
each day, undoubtedly due to the excellent care he's receiving from his personal Nurse Ratchet - that would be me
And yep, Nomads in general do be real good folks, and I'm pleased to count myself among friends. Muchas gracias, amigos.
