i was a "4 day mulege guy" just recently...
i left after work wed
made it to camalu at 11PM
left for mulege thurs at 5am
arrived at 4pm
(NO fartin around)
had friday and saturday free
left sunday at 4AM
arrive in upland (2hrs north of the border)
between 8PM and 10PM depending on the border traffic
rested at work monday

I drive a 34' motorhome. We have a place in Bahia de Los Angeles. First time Baja travelers will take much longer to make the drive than seasoned Baja
travelers. Time to BOLA from the border is 6.5 hours to San Quintin and an additional 6 hours further to the bay. On the flat and straight I travel 60
to 65, in the hills I average about 45 to 50 up and down.
If your looking for Hot and Sunny all day and a party atmosphere try San Felipe. I do have to admit, I haven't been in S. F. for almost 10 years. Too
crowded for my liking. South of S. F. might be a better choice. Maybe some of the people that go further South in that area can add some current
insight.
San Quintin is on the Pacific coast and will be cooler than the East coast. The days usually warm up nicely and the nights are almost always chilly.
Good RV parking available in S. Q. One park, Cielito Lindo, has "sometimes" electrical hookups, always sewer dump and never hook up to city water
anywhere in Baja. Almost always the water is brackish. Cielito Lindo restaurant and bar is available at the main campground. Laura's "Wet Buzzard
Cafe is available on the beach camp spot. The beach camping spot has a dump and Good hot showers but no hook ups.
El Pabellon a few miles further South is similiar. You can check them both out and make your choice upon arrival.
Drive with your lights on at all times. Helps the Big trucks see you coming. The road is little narrower South of San Quintin, but very doable. You
just have to get used to it.

all is great info but you need a vacation strecher you have enoff time to get there and back now you need some R and R time the fuel costs alone
warrents more time( if you broke down ) it could take 3-4 days for parts??

IMHO...going to BOLA with that little time would be a waste of your vacation time. You would spend almost 2 full days making the drive there and
back.
I would stick with your original idea and maybe go to San Felipe. You could stay north of town at Pete's Camp ( http://www.petescamp.com ) or maybe go to the South Campos area about 25 miles south of town. Campo Nuevo Mazatlan is a nice camp right on the
beach.
All camps will be VERY BUSY that weekend, so you would need to arrive as early as possible. From San Diego it would only take you about 6 hours tops
in a motorhome.

I stopped going to SF more than 15 years ago because it just became a zoo. Memorial wknd is worse and not the time you want to go there with little
kids. If you were taking teenagers and OHV's you would fit in and probably have a blast. Given the ages of your children I would say the drive to
BoLA would be well worth it. You will be on the road a day each way to either place. 3 hours below Mexicali to SF or 10 below TJ to BoLA. Unless a
caravan is coming through you should have no trouble getting a space at Daggett's and in the event that happens there are several other places. The
weather is usually perfect there during the day and cools off enough to sleep well at night. SQ experiences the typical June gloom which is fine if
you happen to like fog but bring your parkas so you can sit around a campfire in the evening.

I have never stayed here but when we were in San Felipe a month ago we found a nice RV Park about 5-7 miles south of San Felipe called Punta Estrella.
It is right on the beach, nice white sand, clean, but no hookups. The cost is $30.00 per day. I plan to stay there someday.

The poor guy is sure getting a mix of suggestions!
If the plan is to spend as much time relaxing as possible with 6 hours or less drive, then Gypsy's RV park next to Cielito Lindo (just south of San
Quintin take paved side road at Km. 11)... Yes, you may have fog and gloomy weather, but a big beach a short walk away and it will be much quieter
than San Felipe (which will be an ATV, fireworks noisey zoo).
If you really want warm, sunny days then go south of San Felipe: Punta Estrella perhaps? Rancho (Laguna) Percebu will be noisey. Nuevo Mazatlan will

If you don't mind a full day drive (8 hrs from border in car, 10 hours in moho) and want to see a beautiful Baja location and the finest desert
