Vagabundos Insurance paid off
Had a small accident in La Paz in January (fellow ran into me...no insurance, etc.) We have insurance through Vagabundos, written through ADA VIS
Global in the US and Seguros el Potosi in Mexico. Called Mexican number, adjuster showed up, filled out report, took photos, etc. Got police report
and copies of adjuster's report. All very well handled by the adjuster. He said he would take care of it (well, it did cost me a couple of beers).
Called ADA VIS and said I want car repaired in the US when we return in April. No problem. Filed claim with papers on April 4, received settlement
today, April 30. Insurance paid for all parts, paint, and labor in the US at $50 per hour (it was more than that). Minus some for the labor, taxes,
and our $500 deductible, we got paid off in less than a month. Nice to have it wrapped up so easily. Car fixed, ready for next trip. So, looks like
we will continue with our annual insurance through Vagabundos.

My only experience with insurance with the Vags was good, too. It was about 4-5 years ago.
Getting it fixed in the US was assumed by the mexican adjuster, as we were headed north when the mishap occurred. We were told to get three estimates
in the States and they would send us a check for the averaged amount.
Let me know if you ever need EXPENSIVE quotes.

I carry my insurance with ADA VIS Global directly. -no club charges haven't had a claim but good to hear Jack's experience.

Woody, perhaps I wasn't clear...the insurance company did not pay applicable taxes and only allowed for $50 per hour labor in the US. The labor rate
was more, so yes, I paid the difference in addition to my deductable. All in all, it was satisfactory considering the complete lack of hassles and
prompt resolution. Particularly satisfying was the ability to do the paperwork claim several months after the incident and have the work done here at
home in the US.

I had to tell you this . . Feb 1999, Guerrero Negro, Main St, 9.30am. I was heading out of town with my F350/Lance camper - BANG! Pulled down a low
overhead power cable - police/irate shopkeeper/helpless gringo BUT remembered Vagabundos insurance!!!
Arrived in minutes/charming adjuster/efficient/smiles fade all around after some rapid Spanish . . . .
Seguros Noroeste (the VAG insurance carrier) was put out of business the day before for failing to meet asset/reserve regulations. Had to pay out of
pocket to stay out of jail . . . ticked off . .
Even more ticked off two months later in VAG office in Rio Vista when found they were STILL selling Noroeste policies . . .

Jack could your insurance adjuster speak English? When I had my accident near Ensenada the Qualitas adjuster was very nice but he could speak very
little English. The only way I could really find out as to the status of the repairs to my trailer was to get a translator.

The telephone number to call was in San Luis Potosi (Mainland). I asked for English and got an English speaking person. They called the adjuster in
La Paz, who also spoke English. Nice guy, had to buy him a couple of beers, listen about his family, other accidents, then off to the damage to my
car. Typical Mexico! Been down here on and off over 50 years, so understand the culture pretty well. Guy did a great job, over 6 police piled out
of the patrol car when he called them. Looked like a big deal (it wasn't). He took me to the police station next day for the report and seemed to
know everybody. It was an uninsured gringo who hit me and he really gave him hell (but no $). Time to move on.....
