Puerto Los Cabos from the air
A few of you have expressed interest in the progress of the marina.
A friend took this last month from a commercial flight

Too late - that train has left the station (long ago), and is gathering momentum every day.

I haven't been down that way in a while but I can't find any landmarks that look familiar. Is the Presidente in the photo? (err, is the Presidente
still there?)
Where is the dirt road thru the Mango tree-tunnel and river bed that leads out to La Playita? Still there? Under water now?
I always felt a little lost on that road because I couldn't tell how far inland we were or where the estuary was. On a moonless night that road gave
new meaning to D-A-R-K! If we were driving out there at night, for "fun" we'd find the spot with the thickest tree cover, and stop , roll down the
windows and turn the lights off. Then we'd see who'd get creeped-out first by saying stuff like "what if we broke down out here? or "I have to pee so
you'll have to come outside and stand guard". Of course neither one of us planned to set foot outside the vehicle.

Oladulce,
The Presidente is still there but out of the picture at the bottom. The estuary is just off the page at the bottom between what you see and the
Presidente. The old village of Pueblo la Playita is in the center above the new marina. That old road you took has been abandoned, but will be the
route of the new bridge across the arroyo. The materials are being staged at the bottom of the picture. I think the new bridge will come into this
picture at the bottom mid right and will extend south to near the sewer plant (the flower of San Jose).
All the homes for the rich folks will be along the coast above the marina. It will be interesting to see how the village changes as the marina gets up
and running.
No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

Pappy, you just have to change your attitude re: the New San Jose.
First, embrace the idea of cheap meth, transvestite rough trade, 25 open air cafes with waiters blowing whistles and touting "tequila poppers",
sunburnt Canadians belching Buffett mediocrities, time share predators, wall-to-wall traffic, 1000s of tattooed women 20 years past their "use-by"
date showing too much skin, and a total scraping of the Gordo Bank.
Much of the above came to pass mere months after the development of the inner harbor at Cabo proper.
Geez, Bro...get with the program.

This is the type of stuff that will bring what was the beauty of baja to it's grave. It's sad that this is going on all over the peninsula.
Destroying waves and camping and nature all over the place. It would be alright as long as it was done slowly and responsibly. In the town I am most
interested there is a showdown over the land that overlooks a wonder of the surfing world. Some of us are doing all we can to persuade all parties
both gringo and Mexican to preserve this natural phenomenon for all people to enjoy. Yet with millions of dollars on the table it appears that the
greed genie is promising to grant wishes and noone is listening to the consequences for their children. We gringos that are becoming more and more
interested in keeping baja funky are fighting a difficult battle trying to influence the local capitally, challenged to not sell their souls down the
river to the dollar wielding land grabbers.
Where is the win, win mentality?

Yep,
The End is near!!!
All this started off catering to Gringos, I believe.
I have seen the enemy and it is us.

PS. I believe I have seen my share of sunburned Americans down that way, too

Point taken.
But to really get that Chernobyl crackle you need to go zero-to-sixty from the rain forest to Cabo.
