Cheap flights LAX to Loreto (found!)

I was wondering why it cost so much to fly to Loreto from LAX compared to flying into Los Cabos. I finally found that Delta will get you there on Tuesday or Sunday nonstop for $119 US.
Alaska will get you there nonstop for $123 on Friday.
The only catch is that the flights leave at 1110 AM for Delta and Alaska leaves at 1155 AM. This means you have to fly to LAX in the morning; it's a miserable place to spend a night...

Ooops! Alaska leaves Sun Tues Thurs and Friday for $120. You just need to buy a while in advance.
I haven´t checked all Delta flights

Why would you spend the night at a airport- if you are too cheap to get a room, then maybe you should spend the night on the greyhound to TJ.

Getting to LAX will increase the price of that ticket by a factor of 2 or 3 at a minimum.

I dont know about you negativos, but there are always sales for flying to LAX, usually about $100 from anywhere in the US. The latest I saw was Southwest.
¿Too cheap for hotel?
Damn straight!
How do you think I can stay in Mexico 4 months per year?

before everyone gets all excited, you are looking at web special prices to Loreto...yes, true, but when NOT on special, you'll pay 450-550 RT LAX/Loreto. most of the time I could fly to Europe cheaper than getting from to/from my Phoenix and Loreto homes. the current Alaska Air special expires 5/17. and I hear the Continental intro price Atlanta-Houston-Loreto is running 350 rt. do not bet on any of those prices lasting long.

why more to Loreto than Cabo...??? because they can get it...

Loreto from LAX

Perhaps the number of passengers and competition, or lack of, have something to do with it.

I imagine the airlines are doing a balancing act with the route to Loreto. They have to get the number of flights and price just right to pull a profit. I doubt that the number of flyers to Loreto is a predictable number seeing that it is a relatively new route and comparitively speaking there is little reason to go there. If I were a golfer I'd go to Hawaii or Palm Springs for a golf vacation.

Alaska Airlines had a miserable first quarter and Delta just pulled out of bankruptcy. Neither is profitable.

Plus, Loreto Bay is subsidizing Alaska to fly there.

It's all very tenuous.
