Thanks to all those with advice on our first trip driving to Los Barriles. The drive was uneventfull if you do not count the white knuckles at truck
passing time. Crossing the border at TJ took a little longer than I exspected(getting permit and having to walk back through to US side). I pulled
into the declare area because we had some fencing material to leave at the property. The inspector looked at my reciept, complemented me on our 5th
wheel and asked to see registration on the boat and 5thwheel. I stood around waiting to pay my money and she told me to go away, so I did. We should
not Have tried to make San Quintin on the first day because it got dark and it was hell finding the RV parks we had listed. We ended up in Old Mill.
The park was not bad but the road in sucks. The next day we made Mulege before dark with no problem. Stayed at Serenidad as recomended by Bob and
Susan. Nice Place, good food, nice people. Only 4 spaces I saw so have a back up plan. Next morning headed for Los Barriles. Made it by around 4 pm.

Next time, if you just need an overnight RV place, the Sinahi RV Park in El Rosario (behind the La Bocana Beach Restaurant and Sinahi Motel) is right
off the highway. If that's too far in the dark, then north of San Quintin in Colonia V. Guerrero is the Meson de Don Pepe RV Park and a short distance
west on a good dirt road is the Posada Don Diego RV Park.

David,
Have you been in Don Pepe's and Don Diego's? Tell us a little more, please.
I've almost stopped at both a couple of times but, with the 4x4 behind the Moho, I hate those surprise places that don't have a turn-a-round big
enough. Do they have hook ups? Baths/showers? Restaurant/Taco stand?

P.S. Forgot to mention, I too hate that road to Old Mill. Next time try Gypsy's or El Pabellon South of San Q. Both of those roads are WAYYY better
and shorter.

I haven't seen a lot of camping/RV activity at Don Pepes in the past few years and we were wondering if they closed it . We still stop at their
restaurant for huevos occasionally and the former camping rv area has looked like a ghostown. Don't know about hookups there, but they used to have
good hot showers.
Bedman, if you make the 2nd right turn in to Don Pepe's (go to the bottom of the hill before turning in) it's easier to navigate and their internal
road makes a loop around.
Posada Don Diego has plenty of room to turn around in and lots of large RV spots. Careful in the winter cause it fills up with caravans. Fairly flat
concrete pads and hookups are there, but we've never used them. Showers used to be ok, but were getting progressivly icky, cold water only, no shower
heads and poor maintainence so we haven't been there for a few years. Not an extremely picturesque place, but ok in a pinch. Nice people and decent
margies at their restaurant. A couple months ago, we got stuck behind a huge group of RVs who had just pulled on to the hwy before us and I could see
more lined up on the road all the way back to Don Diego's, so somebody's still going there.
Also tried Sinahi in El Rosario for the first time recently, and although it's not the most scenic campground either, the space was level without
having to fiddle with the camper, the showers nice and hot and the BRs clean. Lots of turn- around space in the RV lot back there too Bedman. It was a
relief not to have to continue driving to get to Pabellon in the dark like we always are when going back north.
The food at their restaurant "Bocana Beach" had greatly improved from a previous visit we'd made and the sopa de mariscos was quite tasty.

i don't think those 4 spots at the Serenidad are ever full and if they were Don would accomodate you somewhere...
no need for a back-up plan if you go to the Serenidad in Mulege...
anyway the famous capt mike would assist...since he's RIGHT there
