U.S. VEHICLE INSURANCE
Naturally enough, there are numerous postings on Baja Nomad about getting Mexican car/driver insurance. I imported a Suburban last year which now has
Mex national plates.
Driving it into the States is a hassle because the only insurance I have found are those day/week policies you get at the border - and they are a
total ripoff.
Can any Nomad help point me to a U.S. insurance site for Mexican-registered vehicles? Maybe like Vagabundo insurance where you can buy it for a year
for tourist purposes? What do Mexicans do with their Mex-registered vehicles when going to the States? THis is probably better asked in TJ than LP . .

My Mexican plated car is insured for the US & Canada by AIG Mexico.
Liability: $176.00 /year

Diego, 2 week liabilty coverage was $35.59.

That is a good thing to know iv'e been insured with them for 7-8 years and always get US ins. in Ensenada never really felt secure.

I go to visit family in San Diego once a year for 2 weeks, mas o minos. If you wait and get the insurance policy at the border you will pay too much.
Better to pay here and know when you cross the border you are covered and better yet.....do not have to stop to purchase insurance.
Years ago when I lived in SD, but made 6-8 trips a year to Mexico I had Mexican insurance through Discover Baja.
