Sent this to many Vets I know..........this thread gives me the opportuinty to post it here and say thanks to the guys and gals here.

Good morning Doc,

I woke this morning with a thought firmly planted in my mind and my heart and that is to tell you what I normally do not say during the rest of the year and that is that I quietly, yet staunchly respect and support you and all of your buddies who gave and continue to give so much for our country and my family.

I say continue because many of those who served and gave more of themselves than others will ever know, and yet, have lost their way in their bitterness at a country where a noisy minority has failed to respect their giving and pain. Those who have turned away from the task because of their many hurts and pain should also be remembered and they should know that, to say the least, they are appreciated by the real—fellow Americans that they live among.

For the many who still love their country and who would drag their used up bodies off to defend her again if called, I salute all of you each and every day. You may not hear these quiet words but if taken together you and your brothers would know them as a very loud roar!

You , sir! Are my vehicle to convey my simple thoughts to those who served—Thank you!

Bernie

Veterans Day

While we should be grateful everyday for those who served in the Military, Memorial Day is special in that it was created to honor those who gave their lives in our Country's defense.

Veterans Day (Armistice Day) was created to honor those others who served.

On the other hand, I feel it necessary, and I know alot of people feel this way, to include all Vets, living and dead, in my thoughts over this holiday weekend. For the dead, I wish they were here and alive. For those Vets who survived, the most immediate being Iraq Vets, this group NEEDS our support and remembrance on more than Veterans Day.

If you know someone who has served, and is a Vet, then go out of your way to thank them and respect the fact that they put it all on the line. And they did that everyday 24/7 for their enlistment.

I think there should be MORE holidays remembering Vets, not less. And now, a cool one.
