You too can have interaction with squid:
"There are times when a customer will have interaction with a squid, but it is seldom dangerous. Usually the squid out of curiosity will
approach a diver and sometimes even touch him/her."

My dog had interaction with a dead giant squid on the beach. Didn't have to pay for it but she says it'd be worth the bucks to do it again.
She was so proud of her new scent...was a shame to get out the shampoo and dogtowel.

Ummmm......yeah.......I think I will pass on that life experience.
Great story CP! Dogs always manage to find the stinkiest things to roll in and/or chew on. My pooch is no different and would probably LOVE to find a
dead squid on the beach!

Last May and June large schools of humboldt squid were at the surface during daylight. I went and hooked many, some deep, some right at the surface.
Maybe I should start a service, like half price?

You might actually be able to charge more if you appeal to the seriously macho...the 2,200 includes a chain mail suit, which only sissies wear and
which you won't include. Don't forget to get the Loreto Bay link to your website!

Watched it on TV. Looked a little to freaky. Even the TV guy screamed like a girl when the squid started to hit him hard. It was funny. Your probably
going to need that chain mail if you try it.

Thats just silly, if you wait around you might find them swimming right up on the beach, then have your encounter.

Squid Story (Outside Magazine) from Santa Rosalia
[url=http://outside.away.com/outside/features/200607/sea-of-cortez-humboldt-squid-1.html]
I finally got over my fear of sharks in the water while windsurfing and now I find out there's something else to think about while I'm trying to get
back up on my board?!!!
Heard of tentacles washing up on shore near where I sail...I suppose these pacific giants will be the next to diminish?

The Giant Squid have invaded Orange County. Over a hundred were caught on one boat yesterday in Newport Beach !!!!! Double the Bass take. The
water must be getting warmer than usual here. These are six footers!

that we are trying to catch.

In 1975 += a year, the squid invaded Orange County California enmass.
Every night he Newport Pier was loaded shoulder to shoulder with pole fishermen using a small multi hook lighted jiggs "jigging for Squid". Very
early every morning I would trott down to the almost deserted pier and dive it for the jiggs. They were easy to locate since they were hooked on the
pileings and most still had the battery powered light shinning like a twinkling star.
Almost every evening and especially Saturday evening I was set up with a card table at the entrance selling the jiggs back to the pole fishermen at
$2.00 a peice, which was a savings of 50% over the price of a new one at Baldies.
Never was never will be a worm drowner I am, was, and will always be a spearfisherman. So my friends and I attempted to spear them. Our amentarium
consisted of all sorts and manners of spear guns with an equally large number of points. After many sticks and exact equal number of losses it was
determined by trial and error that the very high powered Samson "world record spear gun" with it's tri-tip wide opening point was the answer. It had
a long range and was so powerful that it would string the squid at the termimus of it's flight and the point would hold in the soft flesh when the
squid migrated towards the point.
Allan "Omar" Wood managed to land the largest 30+ pounds actual weight.
Just as suddenly the squid were gone...my mini market used squid jigg operation folded leaving me with a bucket full of unsold jiggs, several hunks of
frozen squid and a lot of great memories..
Now you too, can have that experience and develope your memories for the future for only $2200.00 hard earned Yankee dollars...

Humbolt Squid
Coulden't find the link, however on last nights news they said the squid probably came north on a warm current. It may already be over alrready, as
there was nothing on this mornings news. Fishing has never been high on the lisk for the local news media. What a shame, CaboRon

SQUID
They have been picked up off the beach in San Pedro as of yesterday.
In the previous encounter they were around several weeks --possibly 3 to 4 or even more. At this junction of my life I can't recall the exact number
of weeks..

The ones I (we) encountered were about 2 foot to a max of probably 4 plus feet.

I saw that televistion show and the guy was in some serious distress ..... The squid were hitting him at the face mask as well as serious body
blows. Suprised he didn't lose his mask. I don't think I am macho (or stupid) enough to try this.
