Truck/Boat Ripped-off in Ensenada 6-03-07
Was driving back from BOLA on Sunday, stopped off in Enenada for Banos and Taco's, tried to get into the secure parking at San Nicolas but Score was
using it for the 500. Parked 2 streets off the main drag and 30 mins later - gone...My 2005 Navy Blue F-250 diesel longbed supercab (Lic: BAHIA BC),
and my 2006 SeaPro 22CC white/white with 175 Mercury Verado. Truck also had 3 generators on back (covered with tarp) (Honda 5000E, 3000E and coleman
350)All my rods/reels/gear too.
Will post photos.
Appreciate any info.
Cheers
Keith.

Holy smokes Keith,
I am really sorry to hear that. I hope you can get some sort of compensation.
I worry about this all the time. Yesterday i drove through Ensenada and was hungry but decide to push on to a place where i could stand next to my
(much more humble) rig and keep watch while I scarfed some tacos.

The rage and feeling of violation actually overwhelms all of the other feelings that occur when something like this happens. You work, you scrimp,
you save, you purchase carefully and you have a part of your heart poured in to your collection of those things which are a reflection and a part of
you and some slimeball comes along to make a little drug money or whatever
and completely wipes out all of that in the matter of a few minutes.
When I had my boat taken years ago at Los Muertos I felt all of that and more. I drove back streets in La Paz looking for the slimeball that had
done this to me and started to find my perception of people and a culture that I had experienced nothing but warm feelings for radically disappear and
replace itself with feelings of suspicion and anger.
Hopefully some kind of resolution will occur here.

Keith,
So sorry to hear of your loss. I can't imagine how it must feel.
Please keep us posted as to how your insurance claim worked out.
Hate to think that stopping in Ensenada is a high risk option.

I've had things stolen from me and know that feeling all too well. I hope that catch the scum that did this to you, and by a miracle you get back all
that rightfully is yours.

Sorry to hear of your loss.
Were there any particular types of theft protection devices that you were using that they managed to get around?

What a bunch of crap. It's going to happen that an important business in Ensenada will be Security. We will have to buy safety and security.
What has this fishing village become?

Dang! All the years I've been traveling to Baja, a woman with a small child alone...........I've been asked over and over again by friends and
newbies on the board "is it safe?" I've always said YES!, NOT A PROBLEM" last year 2 of my friends were shot on Mex 1, one murdered! within a week
of each other (what are the chances that I would know both of these people?) I have to ask the question of myself "am I safe, is my son safe?"
For the first time on my last trip down in March, I felt on edge, I was looking at everyone I saw with a different eye.......I didn't stop for
hitch-hikers left in the desert, I didn't stop for broken down cars...........I don't what to pass a person in need, I never have before.......but,
now I canchance putting myself and my young son in j

Boy does that suck or what. I"m down about every other weekend, post a picture and I'll keep a eye out.
I would like to know how the Ins. comes through and did you report it your U,S. carrier. Most cover the first 100 miles in Mexico and home owners will
cover some of the fishing gear.

I hate to say it but your rig was probably taken by the police. They pulled a tow truck up and hauled it away. Probably under the auspices of a
parking matter. When you reported it they forgot that they had it. Well actually the person you talked to didn't know they had taken it because it
takes a couple of days for any paperwork to be completed. The chief of police probably has a new boat right now, or a truck, and the rest of the loot
has been spread around to his minions. All of this is acceptable and legal in Mexico.

Guys, the reality is that race week in Ensenada is robbery central. Chase vehicles, with trailers and sometimes the race car on the trailer have
disappeared now for the last few years. Sometimes they are (partially) recovered at other times now. On the racecourse, stuck vehicles in
out-of-the-way spots have been stripped within minutes if left unguarded even for short periods.
This ain't Kansas anymore.
