Mike Overcast threatening people again
The same old BS..
Evidently he spammed this website and received redicule and account lockdowns.
Now he is threatening "legal action".

It truly amazes me how many people have brothers who are lawyers, and threaten others with lawsuits. The filing fees must be enormous for all
those suits to go forward.

The sad truth - the "filing fees" are surprising small and modest. Make no mistake - the courts, including judges' six figure salaries, staff
salaries, and everything associated with frivolous lawsuits - are paid for by taxpayers. If a litigant has "no money" - then they can file a lawsuit
and fees are waived.
You might be thinking of "legal fees" - which are the amounts paid to the lawyers...and of course, thats between the lawyer and the client.
Not everyone has "brothers who are lawyers" - some folks got sisters for lawyers.

I'm confused Just what is the "dirt" board? and why isn't this on "that
other board" or what I've alway (lovenly) refered to as the "Rabit Dog Board" And why is this being brought up on Nomad's, I thought we were done
with this long ago? Must have missed something
Either way, doesn't this belong on the "off topic" board?

Debra, Just use the report post button and request this be moved to the "Dirt Forum" which is probably where it should have been posted is the
first place. I thought that's where I was when I responded. CaboRon

CaboRon, I hate to bother Doug with this petty childish stuff (babysitting isn't what I think he signed up for)
You are relaitively new to this board so don't probably know just how ugly some people got back in the "old days" that is why the "off topic" board
was created and it was a welcome relief to many of us that just got tired. No offence meant to Patrick........just trying to remind everyone what the
different areas are meant for before all heck breaks loose. I don't think anyone wants that.
PS: I should have welcomed you to the board, WELCOME! (that was rude of me)

Mr. Overcast telephoned me yesterday and today. He communicated that he was doing what his attorney considered was "due diligence" in trying to
request that I remove mentions of himself and/or company from the BajaNomad forums here - with the implicit idea that if I didn't, it would now
escalate this into further legal action.
Along the way, he inquired if there was anything I might find of "value" to have me do so.
He implied that I was trying to hurt him, which I'm not - and then wouldn't let me get a word in edge wise so he could keep putting words into my
mouth. I verbalized that if he continued on that way the conversation was over - and he then immediately hung up the line.

Doug I'm sorry to hear that you had to go through that.
This stinks -- you're providing a service to people and yet there are still those out there who feel they have a right to do or say whatever they
want. It must be frustrating because you shouldn't even have to deal with these people! Why can't people just appreciate the fact that there is this
forum and respect the fact that you have policies that are placed to make it a better place for everyone?
Doug I hope you know that there are many of us out there who will always support you no matter what.

OK, glad I came here and did a little research.
Not that I want to revive this dead thread, but I wanted to add a little info that otherwise might not pull up in a future search on this guy or his
aliases.
He called at 11 PM Friday night (WTF!), leaving a voice message to call him back; something "Important" to do with the Baja Western Onion (I'm the
Publisher). Actually, he used an apparent pseudonym, Gary Newsome (I only found this out by doing a little research on the Web).
I'm pretty sure his call had to do with a story we ran sometime back about the hijackings in Tijuana where I think Mr. Mike/Gary was quoted in an
interview by an other news source.
But it could be something else. Several months back, one of the web sites he is apparently associated with had lifted an article I wrote for the Onion
and put it on their blog without crediting sources. They also posted some totally incorrect info about Charles Stewart, a local artist, being
deceased. I wrote to him/them about it and they removed it, claiming someone else had submitted the info.
Dunno, maybe he wants to sue me now, too?

Mr Overcast
...was quoted in a number of the "rabid dog" newspaper reports that sensationalized the limited number of actual violent crimes in Baja over the past
few months.
Isn't it handy that his operation of "baja ******" would provide Baja visitors the needed "safety" from all those threatening bad people in Baja?
Hmmmm Self Serving???
I would note that I have read many things over the years about "baja ******" ripoffs, so go Google that one too. Apparently, Mr. Overcast does not
like what people are saying about him, but the best defense for a claim of libel is "it is the truth and Mr. Overcast has created his own history"
On his own webpage, Mike Overcast admits to 1/2 dozen aliases. Can you think of why a good Nomad would need that many aliases?
Now that people are discovering that Baja is not the threat that the overblown reports and feeding frenzy created as an image, shouldn't Mr. Overcast
report that change of condition? Where are the OC and SD rags when the story changes?

Y'know, I saw that Myspace page, too, but I think that's a "Joe Job" someone else is doing to him. No one could be that blatantly nasty in describing
him/her self, could they?

All I know is that there is a lot out on the web that indicates this guy uses a number of aliases. Why are so many people saying roughly the same
thing unless there was some truth to it?
And why do so many people seem not to like this guy if he hasn't done anything wrong?

OK, appears he reads these forums since he just called me up about 30 minutes ago and now is threatening me! I'm trying to reread what I said here
that could have caused him to cancel his anger management class tonight but darned if I can see it.
He ranted something about another blog he's starting with me and the poor ol' Onion as the "Target Of The Week" and then hung up. Oh well, guess
that's some kind of fame...

I wonder if this is the same guys that runs "rabid" on the www.vivasancarlos.com board. We also have seen him start his own board that we also call the "other board".
We have also found him to use many different names and IP's.
If not it seems there are just idiots and troublemakers everywhere.
He also does the law suit thing.
