Trip South Past Guerrero Negro in September
I have 2 friends that I have talked into putting 7 days on hold for a trip down Baja. I want to get down past Guerrero Negro and want a place that is
good for surf fishing, swimming, camping or reasonably priced places to stay. We worked together for 30 years now they're retired and I have another
year to go. Open for suggestions and if someone has rentals in the area would you U2U me and let me see or hear what you got. All three of us work
or worked for the government in let's say jobs that keep the bad guys from totally feasting on those in our communities. So, we can be trusted if
someone has a rental with a means for 3 people to sleep and not in the same bed, just thought I would take care of the comedians that have a small
casita with one full size bed, ain't happening. Two beds and a couch that makes into a bed would work, so if it is out there let me know. Otherwise,
I would like to know of campgrounds that have clean bathrooms and showers, so we could just put up cots outside of the truck in a space and make camp.
Would also like a place somewhere around a cafe and store that has beer and ice, the real needs of life when camping. Ok, Ok, we have gotten older
and spoiled from our earlier years where none of this made us blink twice. Thanks for any leads we also do not mind putting up a deposit before we go . We would need it on the 3rd week of September around the 15th, one friend does dove season and will not miss opening season for
anything.

How far past GN?
I'd say either Bahia Asuncion on the pacific side(Contact Shari) or on a different level, Mulege. The Sea of Cortez has all you want and your friends
would love it too.The weather should be perfect then k

Keri,
In September it's about the hottest time of the year on the SOC. Temp. doesn't drop till middle of October. Better to try the Pacific side.

I guess great weather is in the eye of the beholder.
We had a place in the Orchard for 18 years . Most people leave the first of July and come back after Sept 15th. We did that also ,some years we even
stayed for the summer but the humidity along with the heat would sure make us get up and get our work done by 8 am. Then we didn't have to do anything
but play at the beach the rest of the day. We do like the warm weather but I'll tell you a couple of years ago we went down the first week in Sept and
it was 105. We almost died, not acclimated to that weather anymore. I was just thinking he said he wanted to fish and camp so he'd be at the beach
all day and I like the Sea of Cortez better,k

Thanks for the suggestions and if others know more please jump in. Warm weather not an issue with me but one of my friends is from Carlsbad and is
spoiled, likes it cooler. I live in Imperial Valley and know what 120 degrees is all about. I really do not have any set miles below Guerrero Negro
just do not want to have to drive 3 days to get to the spot and then 3 days back out with only 1 day there type of thing.
Thanks------------bajafun777

Your list is pretty clear, surf fishing, camping (reasonable), swimming, etc. so even though I choose to live on the Sea of Cortez side, in September,
you are gonna want to be on the Pacific side. Shari is your best contact and the camping and fishing at Asuncion is very very good.
My second choice would be to contact Juanchy and Juaquin at La Bocana. There are some killer places to camp that are reasonably close to town and
the fishing is nothing short of spectacular. Last year we were catching up to 20 lb yellowtail with surfcasting rigs and having a ball, not to
mention all the other good stuff like grouper, calicos and the like.
While the Sea of Cortez side is my favorite all around place to be, it is really hot at that time of the year, and for the most part you can forget
about doing much "surffishing " or casting from shore on that side, while the fishing on the Pacific side really can rock, especially that time of the
year.

Beware of Bahia Asuncion
We took a trip down here, stayed in Shari´s beach house, ended up coming back twice in a month, and now own a home here.
Seriously, it sounds like´s the beach house would be perfect for what you want, or something else Shari may have available. It is beautiful
here---lots of fishing. I found a fishing map of Bahia Asuncion on the internet---just google it--would tell you the link, but I don´t have it here.
We also liked Campo Rene--- rustic cabins with separate clean showers and bathrooms.
If you do come to Bahia Asuncion, look us up if we are in town---come by and say hello and remind us why we are happy to no longer live in the
Imperial Valley with those awful temps ---even if we don´t agree about Kennedy´s Market.
Also, if you like dirt roads, the coast trip between Bahia Asuncion and Abreojos is beautiful.
Happy Travels
Diane and John---quickly becoming Diana y Juan
Forgot to mention that the people here are super friendly and helpful.
