Help with e-mail

A couple of people in Baja have given us their e-mail address, one is a yahoo account and another is a hotmail account.

We can't get them to work. Does the address need to be different than the regular hotmail or yahoo addresses? Does it need a mexico symbol somewhere??

Thanks
Diane

For yahoo the address may need a .mx at the end (i.e., @yahoo.com.mx). Not sure about hotmail.

Shouldn't be any different - I get Yahoo mail and Hot mail all the time here in Mex, What are you getting back to know that it isn't working?

Don't know where they initiated their accounts. Add a .mex and see if it flies.

Diane - if the account is initiated in Mexico, at least for yahoo accounts, the url will be xxx@yahoo.com.mx

OK,

I just tried the hotmail one with hotmail.com.mx and I will see what happens. It is the most important one. Then I will try the Yahoo one with .mx. The hotmail one is letting our builder know that we have wired more money---so it is mas importante.

Thanks---will let you know if they are returned as undeliverable like before.

Once you define what that means, then you can get some help. You can retrieve your email anywhere in the world.

Since 'you' are the one saying it doesn't work, it sounds like they gave you a bum address and the email is bouncing.

Once you send an email, it stays on the service providers server until retrieved or deleted by the addressee or the service (usually after a period of time).

We received them back as returned mail with this message, Requested action not taken: mailbox unavailable

So far, have not received them back with adding the mx at the end---will wait and see. This is all new not only to us, but to our builder---we are the first gringos with whom he has worked.

Thanks for any help
Diane

Regardless of were you register yahoo is yahoo unless you register under mx.yahoo wich is in spanish then the email is yahoo.com.mx as for hotmail it has no .mx. Could be that theire mailboxes are full or wrong address.

Ferna,
Thanks---if I get the hotmail ones back again, I will try the yahoo.com.mx---that person can contact our other person. And, worse comes to worse, we do have some phone numbers and we know they work.

BTW, we did buy the Amigo cell phone you suggested---having a few problems because we don't understand all of the Spanish, but we will work it all out. We are loving being a part of your beloved Baja and just can't wait to get back there.

Perhaps you will sometime visit Bahia Asuncion in Baja Sur--when we are there---you will always be welcome at our casa. BTW, we had our FM3 pictures taken today at the place in Chula Vista where you collected the Christmas toys---such nice people there.

Thanks Shari, we will let you know. I added the .mx and they have not been returned, so we will see.

Glad to see your computer is back up and running. Oh, have you spoken with Jose Luis about what he is planning for satellite computer for the town? Exciting stuff.

We miss Bahia Asuncion.

See you soon
Diane
