Anybody notice
that the Donald Trump hype is changing the name of Baja California to just 'Baja' Mexico.
Don Jimmy thought 'The Baja' was terrible and he must be rolling over in his grave with that 'Baja Mexico' ringing in his ears.

I was so disappointed/disgusted with how many people in Southern California did not know Baja California was in Mexico. The only person I did not try
to enlighten was my 95 year old aunt who was very very relieved to hear that I was only moving to Baja California and not to Mexico.

Got an "F" in Geography. Thought Baja was part of the state of California USA. CA is a beautiful state. Deserts. Mountains. Forests. Surf. Too many people. Did I say
too many people? Restrictions galore.

I can think of two examples where Mexicans in Baja California call there state just 'Baja' or 'The Baja' and I have seen Baja MANY times without
California attached to it.
Mexicali Cerveza is labled to be from 'Baja, Mexico'
Baja Cactus, El Rosario slogan reads "where the Baja is much more than a dream"
You see, Baja California has become so well known, and the name 'Baja' so cool... that California no longer NEEDS to be attached to it!

Baja Mexico
The use of "Baja Mexico" predates any usage by the Trump. Stroll through the boticas in San Felipe and count how many Shirts and Dresses say "San
Felipe, Baja Mexico". Ditto for elsewhere, including Rancho Percebu, Baja Mexico. Plus the Billboards I've seen hustling property in "Baja Mexico".
The first places I ever saw it used were all by Mexicans. Don't blame this one on the Gringos.

Hey Bill
Not blaming anyone or anything..................I do seem to remember that the word means something and it ain't below Mexico. I believe Baja Chiapas
is down that way somewhere.

Down here the locals are very proud of their State, and they spell it out each time:
BAJA CALIFORNIA SUR
The just "Baja" thing is a phenomenon in the northern part of the peninsula.
I think they should change it to BAJA CALIFORIA NORTE.

All is Well in the Nomada World
If something as trivial, inconsequential and meaningless as "The Baja" or "Baja Mexico" can generate any degree of controversy and debate, it must
mean that things otherwise are going pretty darn good.
All is Well. Good day, Mate.

Some of us who live here are quite satisfied with the state's name, Baja California.
If you want to change state names, start with East Virginia.

You just don't get it David, it's marketting only, presented to the american public. Mexicans who are "Ignorant, uneducated, disrespectful and
certainly not from Baja California would call it baja. I happen to know Antonio and I can not imagine him or any memeber of his family refering to
either state or the peninsula as baja when in conversation with a fellow bajacaliforniano. If you look at any of his posts his location is El Rosario
B.C. not just El Rosario B. Our web site is called ultimatebaja and you will notice it's not in spanish.

With Humble Respect
It is Baja California and has been since there was an Alta California.
Baja California Sur and Baja California Norte are part of Baja California.................should we, gringos, be happy were Mexicans or others begin
to call our States by another name......I think not!
And no, Baja California is not 'in' Mexico it is a part of same and adjacent to it.
Bill, your are right.............things are going 'boringly' well.
P.S, Calling it 'Baja' is like calling a friend by his/her first name..........not at all formal or disrepectful........but for for other to use the
less formal would......well.......just not be good form.............Baja California in respect! Baja the place I love!
