Hooray for America! 231 years of freedom from the yoke of King George and his henchmen.
Uh, I'm feeling a little deja vu, here.................
Our thoughts are mostly with the men and women who have given their lives in the defense of our most precious freedom.
At this time, it is worth remembering that we must protect all assaults on ".........life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness."

La Tijereta... my fireworks were also in La Paz, but I like your view better.
And Judy... pelon.. they call me the same thing. Matter 'o fact, the local beat cop stopped by this morning to remind me not to encourage setting off
those cases of explosives the neighbors buy each year for our annual block party. Silly policia... I just smiled, offered him a shot of tequila and a
sparkler (it is his day off). It's far too early in the day for bourbon.

For bourbon, yes, Natalia Ann--but it's never too early for tequila.

Lee - Ojala estoy en La Paz. (probably incorrect espanol, but you get my drift.) Still being Nurse Ratchett right here in Berkeley... and the
neighbors are currently setting up those bank of fireworks in anticipation of nightfall. I'll let ya know when I've done in my last patient and am
heading south. Miss you... and Judy and Bedo and Jorge and all.
But no matter where we are, you're right... it's never too early for tequila. I think it's the Damiana that makes it appropriate to mornings.

Have a safe and sane 4th of July!!!
[Edited on 7-4-2007 by bigjohn] |
I watched it.
To our troops: It is hard to watch but I think about you every day. I love you. I want you to come home too.I want to see you reunited with your
families and your loved ones. I never wanted you to be there. The notion that "some people hate us" is not evident here in the U.S.A. We support
you!!! Don't believe the right wing media who will try to convince you otherwise. Don't believe those who believe the right wing media. They do not
have the intellectual nor the spiritual capacity to divine the truth. I agree that there are those who do hate you. They do because you are there.
While you are there, fight like hell. It is your own ass and those of your comrades in arms that you are fighting for. Take care of yourselves,
whatever it takes. We'll continue to fight here to get you home safely. Someday soon you will understand what I am talking about. When that day comes
and you are home safely, I will again celebrate the 4th of July, and the American Flag (a symbol of our wonderful system of Democracy and way of
life).
Postscript : It is amusing to see, in the Preview Post that a word I used was changed to "burro". I don't think the word "burro" appears in The Bible.

Why do we keep calling it 4th of July instead of Independence Day? In our little part of Baja we had a very nice block party this afternoon with
games, food, music and great people; this evening we had a little c-cktail and appetizers party with some neighbors; now we are in our own home while
it's just become dark outside -- dogs are freaked (despite everything we've dosed them with) cat thinks all the sounds curious -- while our idiot
occasional weekend American neighbors set off a bunch of really noisy, stupid, useless, firecrackers they bought in Mexico but probably made in China
(more like bombs to set your heart astir) that do nothing more than make a lot of horrid noise, that would never be allowed in the US (forget about
the fire hazard!). When you drive into our camp one must drive by at least 4 signs that say NO FIRECRACKERS, NO FIREWORKS, NO ATVs....and what are
all these part-time idiots doiing? Save it, Nomads that fit that description. I know, it's your god given right. Let's just keep this thread about
INDEPENDENCE DAY. Oh, we did take down our martini flag this AM and put us the American flag! But tomorrow AM, change in venue or no one can find
our house!
