Two Earthquakes in the Sea of Cortez
The USGS is reporting that there were 2 earthquakes in the SOC about 70 miles E NE of La Paz. A 4.6 and a 4.8 about 7pm and 10pm last night. Anyone
spill their drink?

The site I have for earthquakes only goes as far south as Mexicali, and north to the Salton Sea. What's the site you use? Please advise.

Now, these are not earthquakes but a bump in the road. In Imperial Valley everyone knows what earthquakes are and those as weak as those do not even
get the dogs excited anymore. Just another California day with a quake here and a quake there everywhere a quake quake. Mexico ought to be used to

The whole Baja California Peninsula is moving away from the mainland at the rate of several inches per year. At some time in the future, Baja will be
an island. It doesn't happen all at once, but one little tremor at a time. Sometimes a big tremor, but otherwise, many little tremors here and there.
Thanks for posting this info, it "grounded" me again, and reminded me of the nature of the live forces in our local geology.

Hey, more movement the better, I say. Won't have to blend the Margaritas if this keeps up. If Baja becomes an island we would have to rename it.
