Snorkelling in December

Hello from Seattle:

Would anyone have any suggestions for a late December trip to Baja for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking, biking.

We would like to find reasonably priced accommodations and water temps that don't send you to the hospital.

We are open to multiple destinations but will only have 8 days there.

Hi Henry.
I'd suggest Cabo Pulmo on the East Cape for snorkeling. You don't say whether you are flying in or driving? I'm going to assume you are flying to Los Cabos? You going to rent a car?

There is a potluck open to all people that like Baja at Scenic Beach State Park on August 16th. (It's over by Seabeck, Bremerton area) You should go over and ask them.

Snorkeling

Having been there just last week, I think Cabo Pulmo has gone downhill a good deal, but I still recommend the Sea of Cortez side for not having to freeze your fanny off. I still would highly recommend a shorty wetsuit to help preserve the heat in your body's core. It can get a little chilly at that time of the year. If you could be more specific about what part of Baja you're traveling to, I might be able to suggest other places to go. - Stephanie

December trip

Hello All:

Thanks for the replies.

We have around 12 days at the end of December. In the past we have flown to Puerto Vallarta and headed out to the smaller towns looking for reasonably priced accommodations and spend our day at the beach swimming and body surfing.

This year I have been reading about Baja and was hoping we could fly down in December and find something similar, except for body surfing we would snorkel.

We would probably fly into Cabo and head to the warmest water available. If a car is required then we will rent one.

If the water in the Gulf is too cold in Dec then we will probably try Baja another time.

Hmmmmm........are you going to carry your own kayaks and snorkel gear, or are you looking to rent this stuff while there?

Sometimes the weather in December is quite warm, especially if you are from Seattle. It's funny, when I used to fly from Seattle and meet family in La Paz at Christmas, I would be in shorts and tank tops, while those living in La Paz would be in sweaters, hats and jeans!
It's usually warmer down in San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas than it will be up Cabo Pulmo, Los Barriles, Punta Pescadero, or La Paz. The thing is the North wind tends to blow that time of year....So if the snorkeling and being in the water every day is your absolute priority, December might be just a little chancy. I'm thinking PV prices might be a little cheaper too.
