Well, they have built handicap access to the sidewalks in Bahia Asuncion----just one problem, however.

I can see where that problem is...actually two problems.

I guess the thought alone is worth something. Maybe it's for skateboards.

If you have ever built or had a house built in Mexico you will experience many anomalies like this. Through the years I have tried to get into the
heads of the workers. I have never been able to figure out why these things occur. When building, it is impossible to anticipate such screw ups. If
you are not there every minute, s**t will happen.
This is not to malign the sweet nature of the workers. I never detected any bad intentions. There was just this inability to see the picture beyond
the immediate task at hand. That is not their job to see the bigger picture and how the pieces fit together.
Indeed, it is comical such as the photo depicts, but it is not so funny when you are paying for it.
My resolution is: I am not going to torment my mind by applying logic to any of this. Logic is a handicap! Why beat yourself up?

Good one! The telephone pole and street sign pole could be renamed: "A rock and a hard place"!

toneart,
You have a point. When my house was built I noticed something missing in the kitchen area. There wasn't a space or a place for the fridge. When I
pointed that out I was then told that there is a reason women belong in the kitchen. A place was made for the fridge out of part of the living area,
which actually turned out very nicely as it gave me more storage area in the long run.
There's also the mystery electrical outlet in the upper kitchen cabinet that I can only reach if I stand on the counter top.

Diver,
Actually, the outlet in question is in the cabinet in the far right hand side of the kitchen that borders the dining area. They couldn't have put an
oven there if they wanted to. We gave them a range hood that they did install over the stove, but plumbed it into the cabinet above, not venting it to
the outside.

Paulina, the cabinet is for the 'smoked' meat prep!

Toneart,
You are so correct. That is why we have adopted our new favorite saying, It is what it is.
Paulina, there has to be a "logical"explanation for that outlet. While we have found that often some things defy our gringo logic, it makes sense in
a different way.
Now, about the hot water into our kitchen. We bought our place with the kitchen unfinished, but our contractor told us he would run cold and hot
water to the kitchen when we were ready.
Ok, got the tile, got the cabinets, got the hooks ups to the outside, ready for water, and water we got --- just a little strange.
In BA, we get water from the city line, but also have a large tinaco because the water pipe is often out for repairs. So with our guest room, we had
another tinaco installed, and another hot water heater----hot water heaters are turned on by a light switch in the bathroom. (All lights dim)
So, instead of running lines from the back of our house, they hooked up our kitchen water to the guest room tinaco which means that once the guest
room is complete, when we want hot water in our kitchen, we will need to go outside, over to the guest room, and turn on the hot water heater in the
bathroom.
Logic involved, the guest room is closer to the kitchen than is the back of of our house.
See tinaco on guest room---right across future patio from kitchen.

Tis an interesting experience.

Diane, here in Loreto we get all the hot water we want from our nice black above-the -ground tinaca all summer long-- just by turning on the cold
water tap. So maybe that walk to flip the switch will just be a seasonal thing.

Diane,
The next time you pass by PB, and if we are there, we'll have an outlet party and try to figure out what it's all about.
David, you've been to our house, so you won't be seeing the cabinet for the first time. You're welcome to the outlet discussion as well.
Not that it really matters to me, it's been up in the cabinet for almost 10 years now, happy as a clam to not be of any use to anyone. It's just
another excuse for another party.
Saludos,
P.<*)))><

Sounds like a great idea! I just know that somewhere in someone's mind, there is a perfectly locigal reason for that outlet.---Then again, I am sure
that it is UFOs who are stealing our Satelite signal at the El Rosario military stop.

Cackling with laughter, I showed this photo to my companion who is European. He, in all seriousness explained that the sidewalk access was built, not
for wheelchairs, but obviously for young mothers with prams (that's baby carriage to the rest of us) Yeah, right... now I unnerstan'.
