Pretty warm, lots of rain. Flying ants crawling all over my screen as this is written. No Chubascos in sight as yet.

Update on weather---Tropical storm 9E is about 100 miles south as this is written. Seems to have us bore sighted. Expect it to hit the cape around
midnite or a little later. Sustained winds around 35 mph at present. Expeted rainfall 3 to 6" . It could upgrade to hurricane force... Get out the
lanterns and check the flashlights.

I'm having a little trouble with the weather chanel here. They keep talking about Santa Fe? After 50 years hanging around this region, I don't know of
a Santa Fe, Baja California. Could one of you nerds who is a little more apt with these danged computers please inform those folks that they are
talking about a place over in New Mexico or a restaurant on the main street in Todos Santos. By this is showing up in the U.S. Gummit reports... Who's
copying who?

Hi Jimmy,
There is a Santa Fe on page 49 V3 in New Baja Almanac or Page 24 V3 BajaSur Almanac
Looks to be ranch inland from Estero Salado North of Punta Conejo where you watched the Baja 1000 at. Improved road off Hiway 1 just before Las
Pocitas. 20miles North from turn off to Conejo.

Hurricane Ignacio Advisory Number 11
Statement as of 8:00 am PDT on August 24, 2003
...Ignacio now a strong category two hurricane...
At 8 am PDT...1500 UTC...the government of Mexico has extended
hurricane and tropical storm warnings northward. A Hurricane
Warning is now in effect for the southern Baja California peninsula
from south of san evaristo on the east coast and south of Bahia
Magdalena on the west coast. A Tropical Storm Warning is now in
effect from Loreto to san evaristo and from Puerto san andresito to
Bahia Magdalena.
Preparations to protect life and property in the warning area should
be rushed to completion.
At 8 am PDT...1500z...the center of Hurricane Ignacio was located
near latitude 23.3 north... longitude 109.0 west or about 45
miles...70 km...east of San Jose del Cabo in extreme southern Baja
California.
Ignacio is moving toward the north near 6 mph ... 9 km/hr...and a
turn to the northwest is expected during the next 24 hours. On
this track...the center will move along or near the southeast coast
of extreme southern Baja California today.
Maximum sustained winds have increased to near 105 mph...165
km/hr...with higher gusts. Some additional strengthening is likely
as long as the center remains over water...and Ignacio could become
a major hurricane later today.
Hurricane force winds extend outward up to 25 miles... 35 km...
from the center...and tropical storm force winds extend outward up
to 85 miles...140 km.
Estimated minimum central pressure is 970 mb...28.64 inches.
Rainfall amounts of 10 to 15 inches...locally higher...are possible
in the warning area. These rains could cause life-threatening
flash floods and mud slides.
Coastal storm surge flooding of 5 to 7 feet above normal tide levels
...Along with large and dangerous battering waves...can be expected
near and to the east of where the center reaches the coast.
Repeating the 8 am PDT position...23.3 N...109.0 W. Movement
toward...north near 6 mph. Maximum sustained
winds...105 mph. Minimum central pressure... 970 mb.
For storm information specific to your area...please monitor
products issued by your local weather office.
An intermediate advisory will be issued by the National
Hurricane Center at 11 am PDT followed by the next
complete advisory at 2 PM PDT.

11;30 A.M. winds not too bad yet in Los Barriles. About 3" rain in my guage. Waves in front of Palmas about 12'. Expect the worst to hit between 2 and
5 pm.
Phone and electrics still operating. CFE trucks patroling, looking for trouble. God bless 'em.

i live north of jimmy s and right now this hurricane is kicking ass the wind 100mph+ the surf 15 ft and the beach is disapering but the forces of
nature are awsome, its hard not to be outside and watch it. its 6 pm sunday.

The eye of Ignatz has passed over Los Barriles (900 P.M.) The wind has reversed and is now coming out the south. Taking the roof off Mini Super Playas
del Tesora
(Lupe's Changarro) This storm is one of the dryest chubascos I have seen not more than 4 inches of rain to the moment.
Hopefully it will have moved out by daylight tomorrow. Electrics and phones hanging in real good in spite of 100+ MPH winds.
