Observatory Web Cam at 9,280'

Not sure how many may not be aware of it, but the National Observatory, San Pedro Martir has a web cam mounted on the big observatory where you can see what the area looks like every 30 seconds with an archive of daily images going back to 2003... The link to the web cam has been on my web site links page as: Baja's Observatory Website.

The camera is sometimes pointed toward San Felipe, where you can see Diablo Mountain, about 5 miles away. Othertimes it is pointed west and you can see the road near the big observatory.

Here is a sample image from the archive page:

The link to the web cam is: http://132.248.4.10/%7Eobserva/simon/

Thanks for bringing that back David,

I often went to it last year, but then it sort of took a time out and was seemingly non-functional.

Good to see it is back and giving fresh fotos.

Ha! You guys broke it! LOL

Yah, it's not working for me either... today. The photo I posted is from that site, so when you see the photo in the opening post, the site is back up.

Here is where it, and other specific Baja location web links is, on my site: http://www.vivabaja.com/davidslinks.html#anchor2

I LOVE that view!

I have a question - can anyone tell me how to set up a web cam? We have a beautiful beach, a computer-based weather station and sat internet here - many friends around the world would like to see what's happening at the ranch.

Would I have to start by setting up a website? Any advice? (offline, if it stretches the thread).

Thanks!

I sent the webcam URL to a friend and he got this back:

"Security Warning
It appears that you are about to access a website that
has a non-standard web address format.

Such sites may contain harmful entities such as
viruses. We recommend you use extreme caution."

Coincidentally, on its routine nightly scan an hour after accessing this webcam, Spy Sweeper picked up my first Trojan in 11 months (I am not particularly adventurous on the web) - CUIDADOSO!

Thanks for the webcam setup info sent offline!

Great link... however it looks like the date and time are way off. When I brought it up just now it's says today is December 23, 2007 and that it is after 9pm.
