Boat Permits part 2
We were checked today near Loreto, by Profepa and the "Marine Park" people.
Showed them our fishing licenses and FM3 copies (in lieu of park visitor wristbands).
When the Profepa man asked for our boat permits, we helpfully explained that we no longer need boat permits.
...and guess what? HE DIDN'T BELIEVE US!
Imagine that!
Good thing we have our still-valid boat permit.

Well, we all knew this would happen.
Give them till, say 2009, Don, to receive official word.

I don't know if you have to be a member to access this portion of this Yahoo Group, but the Southbound Group has the new fishing license info
translated in english.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/southbound_group/files/Mexican...
If you have to be a member to access the files, let me know and I will try to get the files posted here tonight.

Don, I sent an e-mail to the Conapesca guys in San Diego since the government site did not have any information that I could find as to this change.
The sport fishing boat permit is issued by Conapesca and that is the one which is supposedly no longer required. The importation permit is issued by
the Aduana and we can no longer get that permit here in Santa Rosalia and I was told that we had to go to La Paz for that permit.
I e-mailed the Conapesca office in San Diego and asked for a Spanish copy of the regulation that I will post here as soon as I have it so that
anyone on this board that needs it can pull it up. They are having the same confusion over at San Carlos on the mainland.
I am glad I have a current one and we rarely, if ever, get checked up this far north, but it would sure let everyone rest easier if we really had
the correct info.

The subject was brought up yesterday at the meeting between Mulege's gringo population and the Jefe de Delegation and the Policia Comandante. They
seemed to acknowledge that the boat fishing permits are no longer needed. Don't confuse that permit with the personal fishing license, which is still
required.
We will still look forward to having a copy of the regulation posted here so we can produce it if necessary.

FYI: I just got my reply from Vag's: they are not issuing anymore boat permits and have enclosed a copy of the letter (in English) saying that they
are no longer required. They did note that it might be a good idea to keep a copy on hand.
