Leaving Thursday

I will he heading down to Los Frailes, leaving Salt Lake City on Thursday. After spending a couple of days in the L.A. area visiting friends and relatives I will be crossing the border early next week. Have there been any incidents on the toll road lately that I should know about? I intend to drive only in the daytime, and have been to Baja many times, but if there are any special cautions, I'd appreciate it.

It will be so nice to get out of this snow!

Don't know what is happenning on the board lately, but we are missing the whole idea. This board is to share and help fellow nomads, and haven't seen a single comment to answer BAJARICH'S question.:(.

Well rich the road condittions are the same, avoid Tj as much possible, do your driving in daytime, don't take chances. Just the usual problems in the road, and you know about that allready. be aware of your surroundings.have a safe trip..

Edited because ,I can

Cat, you are correct---

Rich, we are going back and forth about every month to 6 weeks. We still cross going south at San Ysidro and take the toll road, but we don't cross until about 7 am.

We also are very careful with our speed getting to the toll road. Last time we were stopped was just south of Santo Tomas----and we were guilty.:yes:

Have a great trip --- biggest danger right now, IMHO, is the increased big RV rig traffic.:lol:

Well, it took two days, but between BajaCat and JD he got two good answers... Since it was last July when I last crossed at TJ and headed down Mex. 1, I didn't qualify to give a personal reply.

My comment was that Baja Nomad is the (THE) best place for Baja info. and comments about crime and police corruption in TJ and Rosarito are posted almost daily here...

Perhaps bajarich should have posted his question in the Q & A forum instead of General Discussion forum or in the Road Conditions forum with a question in the subject title, instead?

People scanning the forum probably didn't open and read his question thinking his post was just sharing with us his travel plans since it was called: 'Leaving Thursday' ???

None-the-less, CAT and JD came through with flying colors!

Thanks to all who did answer. I also got a lot of reasurance from Bob and Debby's post about driving in Mexico. I've been delayed a few days but hope to leave tomorrow and, after visiting relatives cross the border on Tuesday. I will follow all of the usual precautions including driving slow through TJ to the toll road.
