Rickey Ricardo's - new store in La Paz

Ana and I stopped by a new store today here in La Paz. Rickey Ricardo has opened a store across from the hardware store Los Arcos on Abosolo close to CCC. He has some nice home decor, furnishings, knick-knacks, wall hangings, etc. that we haven't seen much of here in La Paz. Ana liked the wrought iron coat/hat rack but I liked the elephant head wall hanging. We haven't bought either yet, but my guess is we won't be doing any 'safari' themes in the near future.

(No photos of Ricky and Lucy. :()

Ricky Ricardo and Rickey Ricardo - no relation. I asked if most locals had even heard of Ricky Ricardo since he was Cuban and did a lot of music in Spanish. He said not many Mexicans had heard of him unless they had been to the U.S. and seen the re-runs.

I was thinking this way going to be the 'thought about' phrase.

All I can really remember about the Ricky Ricardo songs were from the "I Love Lucy" show and as I recall, a lot were sung in Spanish. Buy hey, that was waaayyy before my time.

Ricky Ricardo was played by Desi Arnaz... Who was a REAL Cuban musician until Lucille Ball made him famous by becoming his wife...

In the late 50's, and until they divorced, they rented our home in Del Mar, on the beach, every summer for 3 mos. (3010 Sandy Lane... a different house is there now.) Desi loved Del Mar so much, he bought his own beach house just down from ours where he lived the rest of his life.

Don't be funny Hook... I was responding to this, posted by BMG:
"Ricky Ricardo and Rickey Ricardo - no relation. I asked if most locals had even heard of Ricky Ricardo since he was Cuban and did a lot of music in Spanish. He said not many Mexicans had heard of him unless they had been to the U.S. and seen the re-runs"

'Ricky Ricardo' was not a Cuban musician, Desi Arnaz was...

As full of crap as you have been lately, David, Ricky Ricardo, the character in the half hour weekly series, was a Cuban musician played by Desi Arnaiz. One does not exist in memory without the other except in your snobbish Del Mar memory.

Morgaine, please ask if Sr Ricardo is a flight attendant. My last two flights to Denver had an attendant with that name. the first time he said his name, I thought he was joking.............

Hey Dennis. What ever happened in your "earlier years" that you react the way you do whenever David K "speaks"???? Have you ever met David in person???????? I've never reacted to any of Davids remarks or responses, but your name surely is always "jumping" on him.

Maybe Dennis wants to keep it a little more interesting:?::(

And BTW, David, your unsolicited refferal to your digs in Del Mar did make it sound a bit snobbish. Just my 2 cents worth.:biggrin:

Okay, I will say that something that happened when I was 0-2 years old was interesting, perhaps only to me (that my parents rented to Lucille and Desi)... What would have been said if I told you that Lucille Ball used to hold me when I was a baby? Now, to me THAT would have been snobbish!

You know, here on Nomad you just might not like everything shared... but I think we can be civil to each other without name calling, don't you?

So there you have it . David had a connection to old hollywood with Desi Arnaz. I would have never guessed.
Good Nomad trivia.I bet there are quite a few of use that in some way have known or been somehow associated with
people of noteriety. Could make for an interesting topic.
Thanks David.
