Pemex rip off...Cuidad Constitucion

Second on the right headed south before the town
Past the Puerto San Carlos turn off on the left headed north.
They said that there was a problem with the pump and the guy wrote 86.88 in the dust on our bumper and said he would have to add that to the final
amount. Fortunately Jim had noticed that was the amount on the pump when we pulled and and said....No, no es mio. The guy didnt argue and never
would look Jim in the eye again. After this incident we remembered something similiar on our last visit but we were both running around looking for
clutch fluid because our clutch had gone out as we pulled into the station and the scam didnt register.
So heads up.

Here's what we do:
Pull up, look for the zeros. Ask the kid for 200 pesos of the "verde" with a 200 peso note and a five or ten peso coin in hand.

Yep, or not even for a second.
Pay with pesos to avoid the conversion scam.
Pump your own gas.
Give em a tip so they remember you on the way back.
The little kinda goofy guy, I think his name is Romero at Antonios Pemex always comes running if he can. I give him 10 pesos even when I fill up
myself. He likes the steekerz and Locos swag.
Just be friendly and show them you are paying attention and its all good.

Had the same scam pulled on us in Santa Rosalia
Now there is a locking gas cap and I keep the key. Can't start filling until I take off the cap so I can check the pump. Be especially careful if you
get double-teamed. I always tip the attendant. Hell, I even ended up tipping the creeps that cheated us. (I was slow and didn't catch on to the scam
until I was miles down the road and started thinking about what happened.)
I think the world is run by C- students.

For us rookie spanish speakers, what is the correct way to say it? Would a one finger salute, and shaking your head left and right be out of line? I'm
trying , because of my wife, to be more "Zen" with my words, when I'm getting ripped off, or at least getting nickeled, and dimed to death. How about
you can sit and rotate on it? Como se dice eso en espanol? I bet I screwed that spanish up?

Yes Judy, this is an obnoxious station> On my way north we pulled in and the guy pertended the meter was at OOO, but it was at actaally at 50.00.
He had a whole show before he got it turned down to real zerro.
No tipping there.
The grass is always greener....
and so, there is always a better spot in Baja

We had problems there a few years ago.
The newer station just north in Cuidad Insurgentes seemed fine last trip.
They even have aire in the aire hose !!

well i learned my lesson at aramburo pemex in san jose.....when i get out of the truck, i focus on the pump meter......i wait for them to zero before
i take my eyes off it.....then i say, lleno porfavor......i know how much my tank takes so no problema now.....thanks to your guys advice...

never had
a problem at that station....or any other pemex for that matter......like anywhere situational awareness works.....oh ya...its a good idea to learn

Burned at Santa Rosalia
...just last week on the way back down. It's not my first rodeo so I was upset with myself for being worked. But you know how it goes...tired after a
long day of driving and not paying attention. I never stop in Santa rosalia either just because of the rip off history there. I pulled in and asked
the guy to fill it up with verde. Didn't look at the pump. It wasn't zeroed I bet . When I finally looked it was on 100 pesos and I need twice that to
fill up. Like a rookie I let the guy pump another 100 pesos to top me off. As I pulled out I realized I'd been had. I wasn't even close to topped off.
They took me for 100 pesos. Didn't want to waste a second arguing with that punk so I chalked it up to experience and took my medicine. no fun!

I haven't done Baja in a few years after many years of doing so. I've been hanging in San Carlos for the last couple getting my mom settled there.
I used to always fill up in San Ignacio and avoid Santa Rosalia as best I can. But then used them a fair share when I used to hang out in San Lucas
Cove.

Insurgentes was a good station... avoid Constitucion and the original downtown Sta. Rosalia station... I do think they also own the San Ignacio
station?
