Whew!........always wanting to "sound good", dontcha know. 
You see, this is the conundrum that is race relations in this day and age. High profile members of a specific minority deciding what is and what is
not offensive for their underlings. Of course, that has been a moving target over the years.
The current debate within the Democratic Party is a perfect example of the hypocrisy of all this. Any reference to Obama's race/color is met with
derision as "playing the race card' or "America being beyond all that".
And at the same time, candidates curry favor from organizations like the NAACP, LULAC and condone the existence of organizations like the
Congressional Black Caucus. Isnt the very acceptance of organizations like this much more offensive than someone referring to someone by a geographic
descriptor?
No wonder everyone is confused about what is "politically correct" to say and do.

No, they, the Japanese comunity, did not hide out in México, they were mexican citizens and residents and as a matter of fact if not
for one Kingo Nonaka, Tijuana would not even have a photographic history of its residents, officials and growth of this city.
Manuel Avila Camacho, president of México 1940-1946 sent all of the people of japanes decendence to concentration camps even thou there was no
evidence that they were spies or any of that, just because of theire ancestry and looks. 13 latinamerican countries did the same during the war, Peru
beeing the worst of all in this masive violation of human rights.
I think you need to take a Tijuana tour.

Thanks fdt. History is such an important element for understanding attitudes and racism. Most young Americans probably have no idea how our next door
neighbors(friends) were treated during that tumulutous period. It would almost be akin to rounding up all the Muslims after 9/11 and incarcerating
them. Should have only been the Saudis(our dear friends). Oh my, what did I say?

When I said "NO, she's Filipina". He shrugged his shoulders and said "All the same thing".

I've got an old friend who was interned as a Youngin' in the WWII West Coast roundup and he uses the word "Jap". Never heard him say Nip, though.
It's typical for the PC crowd to pick those little nits while while being surrounded by issues of actual import.
I guess those pesky little nits are easier to shake off.

I call my puppy a "cochina" (sp?) every time she pees on the floor. It's basically synonymous with "an unclean person" here. I guess the Orientals
who settled here weren't very hygenic.
If you're going to scream racism- the Mexicans should be first in line to take blame- how many Guatemalans make it northbound across the Mexican
border without being robbed and raped by the Mexican army? The Mexican gov't demands more from the US gov't than they are willing to grant to those
less fortunate south of them who wnat to migrate north for a better life.

Saludos everyone,
I had to the entire day to think over why I posted what I did, and here's my take on things. I always tell people exactly what is on my mind, I don't
keep things to myself, and I don't play games w/people either.
I completely accept any appologies from Mexray. I'm not PC, I was just called "N-----" one too many times, and I don't like hearing others being
called names either.
I have friends (from the Baja Grande trip in November '07)who come from Isreal, and they literally told me that I am their only Black friend because
of the political situation between the Jews and the Palestinians. I know that they cannot change the actions of their country, and I don't hold this
against them.
I *had* an in-law (who also happened to be Jewish) who used to trash talk about all the Mexicans, and how their "ruining this country." He was an
eco-greenie who also refused to ride in my Jeep, who called my vehicle a "mass polluter", etc. Boy, am I glad to have that jerk out of my life for
good.
I had a showdown on a cruise ship on the Baltic in '06 between 3 neo-N-zi skinheads - for the reason that they want to exterminate all people of
African ancestry - especially when they are in their homeland.
I had another showdown with the N-zi-lowriders near my home in Sun City, CA. They flashed their Adolf Hitler tattoos, hoping it would scare me, but
to no avail - I was pumping gas with my hand on the nozzle the entire time.
I had another showdown with neo-N-zis in downtown Palm Springs. The little punks and their scary girlfriends had to birdchest me for intimidation,
but it didn't work, because I was ready to kill - even though I consider myself a pacifist.
I could talk about my run-ins with the police, with the 4 whites in Michigan who wanted to run me down while I rode alone on my Mtn. bike on a
desolate Michigan farm road, the cop that wanted to blow my brains out, "If I had a handgun on me - denying me my 2nd Amendment rights", do you get
the picture?
So, no. I'm not PC - I just have a history with racism personally affecting me.

I also wanted to add that the reason I love Baja - beyond the beauty and the serenity of the peninsula is that I don't have to endure the racism that
I would otherwise deal with here in the 'states.
For instance, at a restaurant in Yuma, AZ while I waited for my meal to be prepared, the guys preparing the meal in the kitchen kept spouting off
about, "N's" one of the guys was so loud that you could hear him where we were seated. When the door swung open, you could see the surprise on the
cooks face. I didn't need to deal with that, nor hear it. In Baja, I don't have to deal with this.
In Flagstaff, AZ you could count the edgy, hard looks from everyone in the restaurants there on hands and feet. In Baja, I get nothing but warmth,
leading me to conclude that Arizona is no place for me to travel and feel any warmth from strangers.
As a Jeeper, I'd love to see Utah, but from what I've read about the resurgence of White Nationalism/Neo-N-ziism, is it really worth my hard-earned
money to go there? My money would go much farther in Baja - on gasoline, hotels, and although it's no Jeeping mecca, there's still loads of great
places to explore without having to deal with the nonsense I'd otherwise be subjecting myself to.

It's been fun reading all the comments...
...when I just originally thought it would be fun to take a picture of people taking their own pictures, with a Tijuana landmark in the background...I
guess my sense of humor's a bit warped at times...
What ever the comments, it's probably healthy to get them out in the open to get a brief snapshot of each other's personality...
