A Very Good Year ?

1998.

In Mexico, that is.

This may have already been mentioned and I simply missed it, but a friend brought to my attention an article from a U.S. newspaper describing Mexico's revising their Used vehicle importation law to ban ALL but 1998 models.

Thinking that the newspaper (from Idaho) may have gotten the story wrong, I browsed it and there are quite a few articles from various newspapers all saying the same thing.

Very Strange.

For what it is worth, when I mentioned this to my neighbor, his wife (Mexican) called TJ. Her report was that the law has changed but that they are "not implementing" it yet. That was a week ago. Another neighbor is in process of importing a non-1998 vehicle in order to "get in under the wire". His papers were received without issues and he's waiting for plates.
